Have you been to Tommyguns garage dinner theatre?

I'm pretty sure it's on Wabash Ave. I came across their website, and it looks fun. It is a dinner theatre type bar/resturant in a roaring 20's/gangster theme. It is a $55 ticket for show and dinner. Anybody been there, is it worth it? I'm going with my 15 yr. old son too, who does like history. What about that neighborhood at night? We would be walking to the nearest El station afterward and traveling back to our Oakpark B&B.

Update:

The dinnershow ends at 8pm (it is still light then in late June) and we would be traveling back to the B&B right away then. I can get a city bus #29 going north to the greenline station. The green line runs every 10 min. till midnight or later. Others have now suggested to me to ride the Metra train instead of the green line? That would involve Union Station instead and I'll have to check their sched. too.

Or should I just plan to get a taxi from TommyGuns to our Oakpark B&B, as the safest bet? What would be an approx. taxi fare for that distance for 2 people?

The nearest station is Chinatown/Cermack on the Red Line. Which is a good half a mile from Tommy Guns. The area between Chinatown & Tommy Guns is not safe @ night. You will need to transfer from the Green line to the Red Line. Depending on when you are attending I would check the length of the performance since the Green Line is not 24 hour service & it is not safe at night to ride.
