Messianic Jews are Jews after all, so said Israeli government?
I read all the answers regarding Messianic Jews here. It seems pretty clear all Jews agree Messianic Jews are Christians. But now comes this big exception. In the annual Bible contest on the Independence Day, there will be a finalist from Messianic Jews. Some rabbis tried to disqualify her because she's not Jewish. But the Israeli government said no. She IS a Jew. So what do u make of that?
Please keep the answer one or two paragraphs. thanks. :)

This is a political decision, not a religious one. In spite of the decision, "Messianic Jews" cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery; cannot be counted as part of a minyan; cannot say a blessing over the Torah. They are, at best, apostates. If you want to call them "Apostate Jews Who Believe In Jesus", fine. But that's all.

The government of the nation of Israel uses a prescribed set of rules to determine if someone is Jewish or not. I do not know all the ins and outs of it. Some of it is actually determined by the deffinitions of enemies of Jews. To give descentants of Jewish parents and grandparents refuge. When someone born Jewish become an athiest, they do not lose their status as Jew. When they decide to worship crystals or their own "higher power" which can be a telephone pole far all the Israeli government cares, they still get to be Jewish. It is only when a Jew converts to Christ that they are so vicariously discriminated against and vilified as no longer Jewish. And a good many of the Jews so discriminated against have fought back by just plain ignoring the outcries of non-Messianic Jews. It all has come about because of the autrocities of fake/false Christians over the centuries. But that is the fault of human beings and the institutions sometimes even whole governments. It is not the fault of the real Jesus. And real Christians did not do the Crusades etc. When a Jewish person accepts Jesus (Yeshua) they are not more or less Jewish. The word Messianic means exactly the same as Christ-ian. It means one who follows Jesus by however his name should be pronounced. The Jesus of the Christian New Testament. Jesus was not blond and blue eyed. It says his looks did not make him stand out. Those who have a Jesus that does not conform to the Bible do not have the real Jesus. And their "Christianity" is a farce. Just as those who have a high priest who is not Jesus/Yeshua have a false god.

Pazit, what is the asker twisting?
The Ministry of Education a branch of the Israeli Government did have this to say concerning the Messianic Jewish 17 year old girl: "The Education Ministry said in response to a query from The Jerusalem Post that the "Global Bible Quiz for Jewish Youth" was open only to Jewish pupils. Regarding Messianic Jews, the pupil in question was Jewish, and therefore, according to the ministry's legal department, was not disqualified from participating."
So the Ministry of Education Yuli Tamir a member of the Knesset said the girl is in fact Jewish, I also don't see anyone from the Israeli Government retracting that statement, the Knesset Members are not protesting what she said, that Ehud Olmert the Prime Minister has said she was wrong.

There is a difference between being BORN a Jew & JOINING "Messianic Jews".
*Most* "Messianic Jews" are not Jewish, however I am sure that the ruling of the secular Israeli Government is that *IF* she was born Jewish she will be allowed, even if religiously she is not a practicing Jew.

I haven't read the basis of the decision. To me, I could rationalize it as follows. Israel was created in large part to avoid another Holocaust. The law of return is important; thus the controversy over the details. In the Holocaust, you needed, what, one Jewish grandparent in order to qualify for being tortured to death? So, I might hypothetically argue that anyone with even one Jewish grandparent could be allowed to return, Christian or not. I still wouldn't call them a Jew, though. And I suspect my definition above is not what's in the law of return. Beats me.

The State of Israel does not "persecute" Christians fraudulently posing as Jews and despite the fact that the account was suspended for violation of Terms of Service and the antisemitic attacks on this forum, I am astonished that Yahoo did not also appropriately remove the antisemitic rant it posted here and the one it chose. While the user who was suspended with this account still spams antisemitism under other screen names, this q should have gone the way of the account it was using then, too.

Surely the Government made a ruling that the entry to the contest was legitimate, NOT that the Messianic was "Jewish".
One can NOT believe that the Messiah has already come, and yet we are still waiting for his arrival. That's like saying that YOU were born, and yet have never been born. Ummmm just doesn't work that way.
And, for the guy who said that the Jews were led out of Egypt to be the "ultimate missionaries, but decided to keep Gd to themselves"????? HUH???? No missionary activity was EVER commanded of the Jews, NOT led out of Egypt for that purpose, but to be free, to be free to be Jewish, and KEEP GD TO THEMSELVES??? get real! How the heck does that even make sense?

Let's clarify:
The 1% of Messianics that WERE born to Jewish mothers are still allowed to emigrate to Israel under the Law Of Return.
But I suspect this may change after a while, if the Israelis find that the Messianics behave there as they do in America, and the UK, and Canada and Australia, i.e. aggressively try and CONVERT Jews to Australia.
99% of Messianics were NEVER Jews to begin with. And they are NOT permitted to use the Law Of Return to enter Israel.

No, the Israeli government said nothing of the sort.
You are trying to twist facts to make a point that doesn't exist.
What the High Court ruled is that they have the right to Israeli citizenship because their fathers were Jews. The Israeli government doesn't say who is and isn't a Jew. A Jew is still a person born from a Jewish mother or who converts to Judaism - simple.
What I make of that? That you are a liar, attempting to twist something for your own purposes.

To the poster who is addressing me: the asker is saying that because the government said that an Israeli-born Jew who has joined the cult of "Messianic Judaism" can participate in the Bible competition, that means that "Messianic Judaism" is actually Judaism. Do you not read that on purpose, or are you just too dense to notice?
After reading previous answers of yours, I have no respect for anything you should say, so be aware that should you choose to address me any time in the future, I will not reply to your Jesus propaganda.

I think that a Jew can be a christian and still be a jew, but a Christian, who has no jewish blood, can NEVER be described as a Jew, either prophetically or otherwise.
In Revelation it says,"I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
