What is the best, safest way to tour Chicago's Chinatown?
I would maybe like to hook up with a bus tour that would arrange a walking tour and an evening dinner in chinatown. For myself and my 15 yr. old son. We would already be in the city touring museums during the day, but staying at an Oakpark B&B. We are using public transportation and walking. I will google chinatown bus tours of course. I guess I was just looking for people with Chinatown experience, your stories...

Chicago Chinatown is not very big so you can explore on your own. I took the El there from the north side, had dim sum for lunch and walked around a bit. Totally safe. Check out Yelp for restaurant reviews to help you out.

Me and two of my friends go to Chinatown every so often to shop. We normally just take the train and then walk around. Chinatown is really not all that big an area so a Bus tour seem a bit pointless. It only has one main street that is about 4 blocks long for most shopping. The other area you can shop in is only a 5 min walk away. You will have fun but as I said, I don't thik you need any kind of tour for it

You can transfer from the Green to Red Line at Roosevelt, at which point you only have to ride a little longer (southbound) to disembark at the Chinatown stop. You'll be steps from Wentworth Avenue. Cheap and convenient!
