How do I keep my cats from using my garden for a litter box?

They are attracted to the mulch I guess. Is there something I can put down to keep them out but not harm my plants and flowers?

I have used cayenne pepper flakes scattered around to keep cats away. My neighbour suggested it and so far it has worked quite well for me.

Get a watergun and cover and watch. while the cat comprises your backyard soak him/her thoroughly with water. some situations of this and he/she would be in a position to no longer come returned. maximum cats (some breeds excluded for sure, the exception to the guideline) do unlike water and it would not take lots to deter them. for sure, I additionally like the orange peel thought. something that may no longer merciless. yet land mines and electric fences? what's incorrect with those human beings? while i became a infant we used to play ball in a neighbor's EMPTY lot (by no potential broke a window or the rest that i will bear in concepts) and this previous guy raised such hell with our mothers and dads that we had to end enjoying there. We weren't hurting a element. while previous guy Bozeman died each and every youngster interior the community cheered. Why do human beings might desire to be so mean to animals and youngsters? what style of kicks do they get out of it?

I don't believe there is a safe way to prevent your cats from going where they feel comfortable except to keep them indoors only.

I have 2 indoor only cats and my parents have 4 indoor only cats. It's been great for us. No problems. One of my cats was mostly outdoor. It took me a while to get her used to staying indoors all of the time but it wasn't that bad. I just had to guard the doors essentially. The cats have plenty of toys and beds, etc. to keep them entertained as well as different windows.

The bird population is under attack because of outdoor cats. There are a lot of other dangers to cats. It is really kind to keep them indoors. It costs less at the vet if they are indoors only. I don't need to buy them flea and tick medication since the threat is very low.

  • You could try planting a plant called `scaredy cat`(don`t know it`s Latin name)no scent to humans, but cats hate it. Or scatter holly leaves on top of your mulch. There are various sprays and powders but not tried any of them.Have you tried putting their litter tray somewhere sheltered in the garden, making sure they know where it is?(that worked best with my cats)

They like using my dry dirt under the eves of the house. I have 2 outside cats.

I read in my garden group- eggshells and orange peels. I guess they don't like walking on eggshells (who does- ha ha) and I guess they don't like the citus smells. I'm gonna try it.

    Hope this helps.

get some moth balls and crush them up, then sprinkle them in the offending areas. cats dont like the smell. also cats dont like horse manure, so you could get some to put the cats off and itll do well for your garden.

Even better, you can buy a motion sensitive sprinkler head so that even when you're not around when the cats come in the head will see them and turn the sprinkler on.
