When removing the head of an animal after caping it....what is the best vertebrae to go through?
Where do you remove the head at to not lose any meat while at the same time making it easy for the taxidermist???
Do you personally use a saw to cut its head off or a knife slice through its neck vertebrae to remove its head?
I am experienced but would like imput from other hunters to hear their tactics and methods.

As long as you leave plenty for the taxidermist, it doesn't matter. If you want all the meat you can get, you can sever the head almost at the skull but the point is to leave plenty of hide for a shoulder mount. You can cut from middle of the ribs for the hide and just be careful not to slice it when skinning out any meat clean up to the head.
Just makes it a little more difficult when cleaning the game, but if there is enough hide ( uncut or split) then you wont need to leave the neck bones. The mount itself will be lightweight material and how much you want to show is the only guideline.

Never caped one. I eat everything but the bleat. I see no reason why you couldn't use a good sharp knife, but I have no idea which vert to cut without seeing it.

the best thing to do is call the taxidermist you plan on useing
and ask them how they want it. make sure they take the game you plan on killing to!
