So.... Peter was the first one to be called Pope?? Where is that written?

Where in history is is written that Peter was named Pope in the first century???

You never read this?: http://sights.seindal.dk/sight/1244_Pontifex_maxim...

Why would a Christian want to hold any titles like that, want to have anything to do with that ancient Roman Ceasar-god cult???

Jesus is the rock on which the church is built

The truth is that the only foundation is Jesus. The only rock of truth is Jesus Christ and that we, as his redeemed, need to keep our eyes on him. We are to look to no one else as the foundation, the source, or the hope in which the church is built. The Church is built upon Jesus, not Peter.

"For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 3:11).

While the word Pope isn't in the Bible, neither are the words, trinity, incarnation or Bible. In scripture the Pope is referred to as the rock, or the shepherd of the Church. Christ used this terminology when He appointed Peter the first head bishop of His Church, saying "And I tell you, you are Peter (rock) and on this rock I will build my church ( Matt 16:17-19. There shall be one fold and one shepherd (John 10:16) Feed my lambs ... feed my sheep (John 21:15-17.) The words rock and shepherd distinguish Peter as the head Apostle. It is certain that the other Apostles understood that Peter had authority from Christ to lead the Church, for they gave him the presiding place every time they assembled in coucil (Acts 1:15) and they put his name first whenever they listed the Apostles (Matt 10:2). God Bless...

Peter never took that title....he was dead for many years before the Catholic church claimed him as first pope.

No where that I know of, but it's interesting how a Pope gets to change his name once appointed. e.g. Benedict XVI
