So who's at fault here?
Ok I went to see my dr to find out what's going on with me...My husband and I have been trying to get Pregnant for a while now...I'm only 29 years old-healthy, non-smoker etc. We have a son (he's going to be 5) Last year at my annual, she recommended I take an HSG test to see if anything was clogged...
Well to make a long story short I figured this year I would get it done and I had to wait to do it right after my period etc...
Well I find out that the dr recommended test I had done was not covered under my insurance because it's coded as infertility....well I have to pay A LOT of money for this test
When I spoke with the dr's office they made it seem like it was my fault I didn't know what my insurance would cover-but if they would have only asked me to contact them in advance (before the test) if I knew they weren't going to cover it-I wouldn't of had it done.
I was literally in the hopital for 20-25 minutes and now have to pay almost $3000-Is there anything I can do?

If your insurance doesn't cover it, then there's nothing you can do about it. You may be able to press some minor charges against the doctors office since they didn't warn you how much it would cost. Good luck.

The doctor's office isn't going to pay for it and insurance isn't going to pay for it so you have to flip the bill. It sounds like she recommended it a year ago and you waited awhile. But usually if you go ahead with a test when the doctor recommends it or say you're interested they will tell you whether or not it's covered by insurance. If you tell them that you don't want it now then they won't bother to tell you that because you said you weren't interested. The hospital is going to assume that you know whether or not you're covered for a certain test. There's really nothing you can do but learn from this. Always ask about insurance before doing something.

no, unless you can get your insurance to cover it. I know it seems rude of the Dr. office but its YOUR insurance and YOUR responsibility not theirs.
