Why is my computer ticking?
We bought a new computer a couple of months ago and the last 2 days its started making a very fast ticking sort of noise from inside the box. I havnt noticed anything else wrong and its running as normal. I have loads of room left on the hard drive - its massive. Any ideas?
:(
We only got it literally 2 months ago, do you think I should call the company we got it from? It must be under warranty? xx

with it being only two months old its still under warranty so take it back and get it repaired for free but what ever you do don't open the case or you will rip the warranty sticker and your warranty will be void

It's a bomb!!
Nah, not really. It could be something getting caught on the fan that cools the chips inside. That's the most common reason for ticking noises. Hard drives do tick sometimes, but normally only when they are broken. If your computer works fine otherwise it is most likely a fan.
It may be worth taking it in to somewhere to get it checked, but I wouldn't worry too much.

probably a fan going bad especially if it's a very fast ticking. i doubt it's a hard drive if you just bought the computer. You may want to open the case and make sure their is nothing in the fan blades, and also to isolate where the noise is coming from.

I thought someone would have said this already.
Does it tick more when you access a program?
I suggest its your hard drive.
Google ticking and hard drive and you will see many others have had the same problem. i have seen them myself.
Try running a powermax test, you can get it as part of the "ultimate boot cd" (Google it)
I would certainly suggest backing everything up and getting it back to the makers.
Good luck!

Did you inspect your computer inside? Maybe it has something you don't know of? lol
Nah, inspect it in case some wires are touching the fan. Get cables ties, if you don't have it, and tie up the wires inside so it's neater and allows for better airflow.

Look up, is the clock still on the wall. No, then it has fallen down behind the computer, that is the cause of the ticking. I am happy to have helped.
