How many Ron Paul supporters were originally against him and his ideas, positions, etc.?

I know that some of us have been supporters since the beginning of his current campaign, and some for much longer--since his first presidential bid in 1988 (and before).

I'm really curious about the percentage of supporters who where firmly opposed to Dr. Paul, but became supporters after researching and studying him and his positions, beliefs, ideas, ideals, proposed solutions, etc.

Also, of the original supporters, do you know of many who would fit in the above category? Did you have a hand in changing their minds? If so, what was it that finally helped them to realize that Ron Paul would really be a great thing for our country, our liberty and freedom? Thanks! =)

Update:

Psycho Shrink: So, which of Ron Paul's ideas do you consider to be stupid? Why? Do any of the candidates have any ideas that you'd consider intelligent? Solutions to the problems our country faces--solutions that make sense?

I used to be a Democrat. I was raised as a Democrat and really didn't understatnd how the government works nearly as well as I thought I did. I thought that people should give a lot of their money, especially people who drove nice cars or lived in nice houses, to the government. The government would then take the money and create a near perfect society for us. If the government could only get enough money from the rich people this would happen.

What I have found out is that most of the people who I considered rich were not so rich as I thought. So called "rich people", or middle to upper middle class people file for bankruptcy or forclosure all the time. They also work very hard and sacrafice ike crazy for what they have.

I found out that most of the money the government takes from people does not go to help all of society like I thought. Most of the money goes to trillionaire bankers, corporations and politicians. A big chunk goes to the massive bureaucracy that is well known to waste just to keep people on the payroll. And then we, have society getting its cut.

My hippie parents who taught me to be a Democrat unfortunatly had not done much reading or critical thinking. They mosty absorbed a lot well produced, downhome sounding NPR. My parents even knew the Rothschilds are the top owners of our government and still thought big liberal taxing is a good thing. They thought the Rothschilds will get their cut regardless, might as well ship our nation's wealth to their FED banks.

I have always been an active voter and try to get involved in issues that are important to society. Back in August, I was doing my research on-line for McCain, Clinton, Obama, and Paul to see what they supported, voted for, their ideas, etc. Ron Paul was the only one I agreed with 100%! Then I saw Aaron Russo's documentry on the IRS and the small but gradual steps the government is taking to turn America into a police state and it was certainly very disturbing. I researched further and came to the conclusion that Ron Paul is the only candidate who wants to reinstate America as an independent, freedom-loving country and abolish the Patriot Act, change the tax system so it actually benefits regular Americans (not politicians), stop sending jobs overseas, enforce laws to prevent illegal immigration, bring back the value of our dollar by stopping inflation, end the war, etc. From that point on, I was a Ron Paul supporter all the way. Then I saw Fox, CNN, ABC, and any other news channel covering the debate try to discredit Ron Paul and ignore him. That made me an even stronger supporter!! It is a known fact that the media is censored by the government. The fact that they obviously didn't want me or anyone else seeing Ron Paul have a distiguished and fair debate really made me curious as to what they are hiding...If Ron Paul was really a "nutjob" why wouldn't they just let him discredit himself? Think about it

This country has been labeled 'the greatest one in the world'; rightfully so. Ever ask yourself how did we come about .... and how so quickly? Not even a couple hundred years. It is because the founding fathers were genius's. The knew, FROM EXPERIENCE, what would make a country prosper; Freedom. Freedom for the people to do as they choose, to research what they want, to experiment with what they want...all without government intervention.

Ron Paul is a latter-day patriot who wants to put our country back on track.... to run they way it was designed to run ...

to restore the republic .... Take the power away from the federal government and give the power back to the States.

    To answer your question:

I have always been a Paul supporter. You can call me one of his missionaries. Trying to spread the message of peace and freedom and how it's obtainable through Ron's proposed policies. I have a neighbor who never heard of Ron Paul as of last Sept. I gave him some links to read what Paul was all about, and now Ron Paul's got another vote.

....along with a number of friends and family members who have come to see there is a much better alternative than the 3 stooges.

I am one! I would have never supported him this time last year. But he made so much sense in the debates that I had to give up my beliefs and look into this guy. I watched a few videos on YouTube, bought his book "A Foreign Policy of Freedom", and then I was convinced. Never before had my opinions been swayed that quickly and easily because never before had a politician been so honest and up-front with the American people.

Now, I will always support Ron Paul and his ideas. Never before has a candidate been so convincing. His legacy will live on forever, and his message will one day be proclaimed by the masses.

    Ron Paul in 08!

I've always had the same beliefs (for the most part) as Ron Paul, but I haven't always supported him. I really didn't think he had any chance of being elected so, I didn't vote for him at first. But, after everybody else was out and McCain was the only choice we had (Republican), I decided that I wasn't gonna vote for the less of two evils. I'm glad I decided to support him, because I have learned a lot from other supporters. Scary stuff, like about the CFR and the people that really run the government. Now I wish I had supported him all along and had told more people about him. We need him for President because its scary to think about what might happen if somebody else gets elected.

I was slow to decide absolutely but never actually opposed. Like most Citizens today, I had to either dig and dig and dig for any information on him or hear nothing at all. So I dug.

What finally cinched it for me is watching Eisenhower's Farewell address on a DVD called, "Why We Fight". (I'm a movie/documentary addict). In a matter of minutes, everything clicked.

Our parties and candidates have become so brazenly apathetic toward the Constitution that, until one has studied the issue carefully and without bias, it just sounds like a conspiracy theory to say they've disregarded law.

But this is one issue (unlike the theory of the "faked moon landings", etc) that can easily be verified. Just read the Constitution and papers leading up to it, then consider how our seated government spouts anything BUT the Constitution and its fragile destructibility which only we can prevent. And ONLY by eternal vigilance.

    ...

  • When I first found out about Dr.Paul I was hooked , He cured my apathy for politics , learning of him , also led me to other issues that i needed to be aware of.

I noticed that the media never said nothing about him , even my so called beloved radio talk show host .. when people call in mention Dr Paul , they were quickly silenced. With the media blocking someone as wonderful as Dr.Paul , just made me want to learn more about him .it also opened my eyes that the media only lets us know what they want us to know .

what I do hope is people who think Dr.Paul is a great guy , but doesn't have a chance , and say they will vote for other so their vote is not wasted .....will change their mind and vote for him .

He does stand a chance ..or he would have dropped out .Watching the national convention will prove to be an exciting event . I had heard when Ronald Regan got the Republican nomination that there were full blown fist to cuff fighting .Fist and chairs flying ..people getting stitches.A very emotional event .

Ok....I'm one of the guilty ones.

I was one of the "who's Ron Paul??"

Why...because I was ignorant like most of

America and only researched the "3".

I initially was for McCain as I believed

that we should stay in Iraq to support them and,

with his son being over there I thought that he

would have the insight and "connection" over there and would make sure that the situation

would not be prolonged unless it really needed

    to be.

I then clicked on this link

    http://glassbooth.org/

that someone had posted on here

and found there were more candidates then

    just the "3".

At the same time I started reading up on the

CFR and Fed Reserve Bank and reading up on

why we were really in Iraq.

Realizing "why" we were in Iraq, I then researched to see which candidate wanted us out immediately.

The only one was Ron Paul.

This caused me to research Ron Paul further.

    The more I read,

The more I realized that he was

the only man that would Save our Great Country.

So, I was not originally against him,

nor was I an original supporter as I was

not aware of him and his ideals.

It is sad that the media blocks him out.

So, I guess it's up to you, and me and

other supporters to get the word out.

    May God Bless America!

I've pretty much always been a supporter. I'm happy to say that I've had a part in changing the minds of several people about Ron Paul. I may be giving myself to much credit, but ????? It's exciting to know that you've helped somebody understand what he's all about and more than that, about what's going on with the government now a days.

I was never "against" Ron Paul but I was for Obama because I wanted change. It was my Dad who showed me that Obama cannot offer change because he's in with the CFR. From there, I started looking at Ron Paul. Now I'm convinced Ron Paul is the way to go.
