Court/sue question!?

A person has cleaned a few apt as a part timer for extra money for an apt.complex company, they didn't turn out good at all,I mean not cleaned as they should've been,so the manager for the apt.place only paid the cleaner half of the total ammount talked about, since she had to send other cleaners to finish the job.Now the person(who did the not so clean job)wants to sue the apt.complex for not getting the money she tought she was going to get,and I know that the manager has made clear that the apt, were not good for her to go back and touch them up or she wouldnt get paid, she just walked out without even filling out a venders form to get her check. So I'm sort of stock in the middle since the check came in my name,so I paid her what the invoice said(I also work for the apt.place as a contractor)yet she thinks the manager is not right and wants to sue.The manager said, that's fine since she deals with this all the time so...will I have to be envolved, does she have the right to sue?

Update:

There isn't a contract..I mean I have signed one but she walked out before doing it one for herself,so her money came to my check since I knew her and I gave her what she was supposed to get.

Update 2:

My thing is,how can she sue without proof of anything,so eventually she'll want to envolve me in it...I'm not in it,since i saw the apt,and they looked grossed! Can she still have a case?

I am not a lawyer so this is just an opinion but if I were hired to perform any job at a set price per hour or by the unit, then I would legally expect to receive those wages times the number of hours I have worked or number of units I have cleaned.

If I did not perform my job as contracted, then I would expect the boss to either give me the opportunity to do it correctly or to fire me for incompetence, but under no circumstances would I expect to get half a check with the excuse of another person was called in to do my job behind me.

In terms of going to court, I would fully expect to win from the one aspect that the agreement called for a set wage, which was not paid.

As far as your involvement, without knowing what part you played, it is impossible to me to say. If it was your word that said the place was not clean and that statement caused the pay to be cut, then yes, the boss will definetely call you in to testify as to what you saw.

The last part of your question is whether the other person has the right to sue. In a nutshell, anyone can sue anyone for the cost of the filing fees. Whether they can win is another story altogether. Personally, I do think she would at least win the agreed upon wages since she was not given the opportunity to rectify the situation.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

Everyone repeat after me, YOU CAN SUE ANYONE FOR ANYTHING. The question is, can she win? Then answer is I don't know without seeing the contract.
