Steamboat Three five-star matches in one year, says it all. Also, Steamboat was as good as Flair, but was his polar opposite at the same time.

Steamboat and Flair also had a very long history, spanning at least twenty years.

The list of people the Nature Boy has faced is endless. Without a shadow of doubt, his greatest opponent was Ricky Steamboat.

Both were tremendous workers, both could go out and put on a clinic for 60 minutes on any given night. Three 5* matches, the 55 minute classic in 1989, enough said.

There were other great opponents: Sting, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, etc.

Steamboat and Flair got the best out of each other.

  • Probably Dusty Rhodes. They feuded for such a long time in the 80's and the belt switched a couple of times between them. I agree with the guy above me though. Some of his greatest matches were with the Hot Rod. Also Ricky Steamboat and Flair had some classic matches.

It'd have to be Harley Race or Ricky Steamboat. Unless you want to count the breif but red-hot feud he had with Kerry Von Erich.

I'd go with Race, since they traded the belt back and forth for close to a decade.

Ricky Steamboat. Flair himself said that Steamboat was his greatest rival and I agree. All of their matches were good.

Rowdy Roddy Piper from the old school days?

I think either Roddy Pipper or The Sting

one of his best were with Roddy Rod Pipper .. both in NWA and WCW ...

also the brief ones with Vince and later on with Triple H were good but they arent his nemesis ... it has always been Piper
