Question for liberal atheists. What do you think of the two candidates for the democrats talking about faith?
Both of the democratic candidates for president typically lean left on most issues. One more than the other. Both are talking about their faith in God and their backgrounds with religion. What are your thoughts on this? What about "separation of church and state?"

- Anonymous1 decade agoI think we have all (the entire country) left separation of church and state in the dim past and we need to get back to it. The democratic candidates have their own perogative, but I wish there was a candidate that stood up for the constitution on this issue.
- ?Lv 61 decade agoThe only way you can even be a cadidate is if you profess a belief in some type of deity and go to a church. You will be more popular if you are Christian. Just like in many states, you can't hold a political position unless you are a theist, it is illegal to hold office and be an atheist.
- 1 decade agoAll candidates talk about faith. I think Obama is probably deist or atheist in truth, but it would be political suicide to admit it. Its annoying that the current political climate requires such pandering, but it's small potatoes compared to issues like energy, balancing the budget, foreign policy, the economy, etc.

- 1 decade agoI think in American politics, politicians have to emphasize their religious beliefs. I'm against it. It annoys me. It reminds me that Americans may not vote for an atheist because they were an atheist. All in all though, I still like the liberals a lot better than the conservatives. Go Obama!
- 1 decade agoWhich two? It's been years since a candidate didn't babble about his/her faith. It would be quite refreshing if candidates for any public office stopped yammering about their faith and asked people to vote for them based on, oh, I don't know, their POLICIES? Their political beliefs?
- Anonymous1 decade agoI could care less what a persons religion affiliation is. As long as when they are in office they know to separate church and state.
- 1 decade agoI think it's ridiculous that politics puts so much emphasis on peoples religion. Politics has nothing to do with your personal faith.
- SouthpawLv 71 decade agoI think they're political candidates. I don't buy much into anything they say.
- Anonymous1 decade agoI really don't care about their faith. I care much more about their policies. Source(s): Secular Humanist
