Who is to blame (see below)...?
1.) A rambunctious puppy chews up his owner's slippers. Who is to blame -- the puppy for doing the chewing (as puppies do); or the owner, for not putting his slippers away or teaching the puppy what things are acceptable to chew on?
2.) Two children find a loaded pistol in their parents' room and, not knowing how dangerous guns are, start playing with it. One of them ends up shooting and killing the other. Who is to blame -- the children who were just playing and didn't know the gun wasn't a toy; or the parents who failed to teach the children firearm safety, or put a trigger lock on the gun?
3.) Adam and Eve, two complete innocents newly born into the world, are told two conflicting stories about the Tree of Knowledge. Curiosity gets the better of them, and they eat the Forbidden fruit. Who is to blame -- the two humans who couldn't know right from wrong because they were never given the knowledge, or the God who did know but refused to share that knowledge?
EDIT -- To all of you who think a single warning absolves parents of all blame when their children disobey or do something dangerous or stupid: please report for sterilization immediately.
Thank you for your cooperation.

There's supposed to be some kind of lesson in the story about respecting authority and taking its (authority's) "word for it" in matters that we know little about. Its also supposed to explain what went wrong with humanity and why a god who created us and is supposed to treasure us leaves us to suffer in the world.
It is an out dated myth, but at the time humanity probably needed it and we would probably not be where we are today without myths like that one keeping us going (somehow) through generations.
You can put that story and the rest of the bible right alongside the stories of Homer and teach the children that those stories are part of the reality we live in wherein how we act affects what happens to us later and what our ancestors got out of those stories helped make us the way we are now- good and bad.
To look at the story now as a more evolved race we can blame this god for what happened to Adam and eve but when we as humans were still at the level of Adam and eve we required stories like that to keep us from ripping each others throats out, I think.

Totally different scenarios, dude.
1) the owner is responsible. The puppy cannot "reason" and most dogs can't either.
2) the parents for not explaining to the kids how to respect firearms. If the kids are a bit older - they should know better anyway.
3) Adam and Eve were told by their Father NOT to eat of the fruit. Someone they communed with daily and lovingly. There should have been no question when Satan tempted Eve. Not her fault? Sure it was, she was disobedient.
#1 - after the puppy was trained by its master not to chew the shoe and it still does, who's fault is it? Should I say the master because he still doesn't pick up his shoes?
#2 - once the children are schooled on the importance and reverence of gun safety and one still shoots the other, who's fault is it? Should I day the parents because they did not remove the gun from hands reach?
#3 - Adam and Eve were told that they should not eat the forbidden fruit - they already had the knowledge God wanted them to have. How could that be God's fault if God had already instilled in them, as a parent to a child, not to eat of it.

The humans, unlike the puppy, were disobedient. They were told straight out, everything is yours... EXCEPT do not eat that apple. Disobedience was the sin. The snake, pointed out the beauty of the apple (which was true) and that they'd know good and evil (which they certainly did, and unfortunately were happier not knowing -aka committing- evil) and then he lied, he said God would be jealous. This is the first example of people twisting the truth.
The children and the pistol: Well, were they told not to touch the gun? Did the parents not lock up the gun? The parents are possibly more to blame than the kids in that situation.
The puppy is innocent since it was not given a command in the first place. But it surely learned mighty fast not to chomp on slippers anymore.
You'd probably like Fr Corapi, he has a similar analysis as yours.

The owner. Puppies will chew slippers because they think slippers are scrumptious.
The parents who did not teach their children safety, or keep the gun out of reach.
OMFG ADAM N EVE CUS OF FREE WILL LULZ.
You have made a great point here, sonny. I hope some people take it on board and use it to expand their own personal possiblities.
Edit: In regards to the answer above me - God did not tell her why she should not eat the fruit. How did she know what was right or what was wrong? God did not share that knowledge. How did she not know that the serpent was right? That is the point, here.
I tell my cat not to chew on the wires of my laptop all the time. Ultimately, if I leave them uncovered she will chew them - because she does not understand. Even though Eve knew the language, she did not understand why she should not eat the fruit, and she did not know whether God was keeping a secret maliciously from her or not.

1.) The puppy didn't know not to chew.
2.) The children's parents failed to explain gun-safety to the children.
"not knowing how dangerous guns are,"
3.) God told Adam and Eve NOT to eat the fruit from the tree, thus the reason it was "forbidden". They were told and intentionally disobeyed.

1. The owner for not putting his slippers away.
2. The parent who left the gun unsecured.
3. The invisible sky chappie for asking the impossible of little more than the innocent puppies or children.
Bill Hicks: I’ve just figured out women.
How the fall of man occurred in The Garden of Eden.
Adam & Eve are in the Garden of Eden & Adam says: Wow. Look at this Eve. Here we are at one with nature and at one with god, we’ll never age, we’ll never die, and our dreams are realised the instant we think of them.
And Eve says: Yeah … it’s just not enough is it?

look tell your preacher to get a real Job, God is or refuge and our strength. Cast your burdens upon him. that was Not what your pastor teaches, do it your self. He probably dose not have much faith. That is why he goes to the world. The reason U suffer is because U do not seek his face, Romans 3:11-18 says this. Going your own way, by not seeking his face for understanding will bring destruction and misery in your paths. Peace of the Lord will not be found. So seek his face and ask for HIS righteousness and Holiness. And u can be Good(read the first part over and over till u see) no one does good, NO NOT ONE. God is yelling at u. Cause he is a God who can do all things, If u seek his face HE will make u good unto him. I'm not teaching to blame God, but to put more faith or trust in God.

Yours is a rhetorical question with an implicit accusation directed to God. Adam and Eve were neither puppies lacking judgement or children lacking guidance ; knowledge was given to them by God as to the consequence of eating from that tree ; the nature they enjoyed was superior to our own as it had not yet been damaged by sin ; thus it is fallacious to project the shortcomings of our own nature unto theirs . Once original sin had taken place the dynamics of fallen nature begin to show : Adam tries to blame Eve and Eve tries to blame the serpent and a couple AD milleniums down the line we, the grand children of Eve, try to blame God. What did God do ? He took the blame He did not deserve upon Himself and allowed the grand children of Eve to nail Him on the Cross for it ; yet even after sacrificing and suffering everything for us … we somehow still have the guts of blaming Him …

Great example.
But he did share the knowledge, in the best way possible. He is allowing us to live for ourselves rather than accept just being told (how many of us respond to that?) Let us remember that God also provided a Savior for us, so we can learn and have the knowledge God has, and get it with the ability for forgiveness. Better than the first two situations, because God and the Savior Jesus Christ can take our mistakes away, as if they never happened. They are the best Masters and Parent/Gods we could have.
Have Faith, trust God, do Good things.

Both are to blame on both one and two, because the puppy was the one doing the chewing and the owner was the one who left them out. On two the kids are responsible for messing with the gun in ther parents room where they shouldn't be in the first place, and the parents are at fault because like you said they didn't teach the kids gun safety and the such. But on three I'd have to say Adam and Eve, even though God didn't tell them about "right" or "wrong" He specifically told them NOT to eat of the fruit and the disobeyed, therefore they were at fault.
