the book of Mormon like its followers is in grave errors, having to change Jesus from being God the Father to the Son numbers of times shows his golden scroll was filled with errors. Errors do not come from God.

David in Jesus amaZing grace John chapters 3 & 10 repent of sin and be born again to see the kingdom of God.

Jesus left out the 'later latter day people who self apoint themselves to be 'saints' and declare Jesus was created and is the brother of lucifer/satan/the devil.

Wow, that's quite a lot of correction.

Okay, assuming that what you said is true, the claim about the Book of Mormon is that it is the MOST correct of any book on earth at the time of Joseph Smith (ie. the Prophet did not claim it was perfect).

So if the MOST correct book of any on earth still had need for quite a bit of clarification and editing, that to me would indicate the foolishness of believing the words of books that don't even CLAIM to be inspired by God. For instance, people who use scriptures of the Bible and interpret them according to their own understanding, making those scriptures mean that people should condemn or fear a particular group of devout followers of Jesus Christ. Doesn't seem to me to be what Jesus would have done.

Considering that Joseph Smith only had a grade 2 education, what is more surprising than the fact that his book needed editing, is the incredible inspiration and faith in God that so many people draw from it. That is evidence in itself.

I wish I could get my hands on the original BOM. My hubby said the original had much more evidence of Hebraic writing forms in it (eg. chiasms), but these were edited to help clarify the book for people in our day. That is what continuing revelation is all about.... clarifying the revealed word of God to help people progress spiritually. Now, how did a man with a grade 2 education know about Hebraic writing forms?

There are many such evidences of the BOMs authenticity, if you only have the heart to look and see. Whether it is authenticated through scholarship or not is really a moot point, because any objective person can see what spiritual blessings it brings into the lives of Latter-day Saints.

It would suggest to me that the Book of Mormon was not simply authored by a poor, uneducated farm boy from new York, but rather had divine origins. And in response to another answerer's statement, the fact that there are similar "Bible quotes" in the Book of Mormon suggest that the same author of the Bible (God) may have also had something to do with the Book of Mormon.; ie if I share a message to my saints in one land and the message is important, i share that same message to my saints in other lands as well.

The problems you bring are minor

    1. The 1830 edition never was pronounced as error less

It has the most errors of all the editions. it was not printed by the church but by the Grandin Printing Co.

    2. The original manuscript dictated by Joseph Smith to Oliver Cowdery and 2 other scribes is the best translation.

Most of that was destroyed while being in the cornerstone

of the Nauvoo House. Only from Words of Mormon to Mormon are still exist. The Printers manuscript written by Oliver Cowdery from the Original manuscript has on the average 2 errors a page. Spelling, punctuation etc.

    3. Joseph Smith had to name himself author because of the copy right laws at the time.

There is a talk by Royal Skousen on the changes to the book of Mormon if someone could link that or i can later on, it's from fairlds.org

Though CW35 farms links are good too

    4. The new testament has 10 times more changes than the B.O.M. 1 John 5:7 and the last 12 verses of Mark for examples

compare the KJV & NIV versions of the bible

The NIV comes from earlier texts.

Once again someone holds up a standard for the Book of Mormon that the Bible itself cannot live up to either. These are 19th and 20th century arguments that today's more informed critics don't bother with.

For those interested in the latest work done by scholars that actually have in their posession the original manuscript, see the link below. It's work published by Royal Skousen.

I think the only one of note is the "author and proprietor".

When combined with Smith trying to sell the book for money, it's pretty clear he didn't think it was a holy book from God.

You quoted the answer to your question in the details. "now if there are faults, they are the mistakes of men"

It's the most correct book. LDS never claim that it is perfect.

Joseph Smith declared that “the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, . . . and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than any other book.” The appropriate sense of correct as used by Joseph Smith in this statement would be, “Set right, or made straight. Hence, right; conformable to truth” (Noah Webster, An American Dictionary of the English Language [1828]). Every edition of the Book of Mormon has been instrumental in bringing people to a knowledge of the truth by the power of the Holy Ghost (see Moroni 10:3–5).

According to Jesussaves....God is responsible for our sins? So don't worry his interpretation sounds like the easiest way.

God uses satan to prove the hearts of sinners

see what they want more.......Jesus or sin

Satan time is about over.......so is yours

    where you gonna spend eternity?

Whew I was getting worried. <eyes rolling about now>

Troll troll troll......Jesussaves the answer to your question is found here:

I'm also sure he will change the wording like he did last time I brought his to his attention.

    Here's the one he changed

Book of Mormon has enough in them to get you saved.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am68E...

Satan will trick you by using Scripture

most false books (Catholic bible, Koran, Book of mormon) have enough gospel in them to get you saved but plenty of Satan's false word to keep you from being used by God

Jesussaves changed his answer when questioned about this 4/28/08

The people who found those changes later said this.

"As we stated earlier, most of the 3,913 changes which we found were related to the correction of grammatical and spelling errors and **do not really change the basic meaning of the text.**" (Jerald and Sandra Tanner, The Changing World of Mormonism, Chicago: Moody Pres., 1980, p 131, emphasis added)

Here are some things about your Bible that you might like to know...

    2 Chron. 4:2 says that pi = 3 when it equals 3.14..........

Ezekiel 26 says Nebuchadrezzar would destroy Tyre, but it was Alexander the Great who did so.

There are 2 different creation stories.

Matthew 27 says Judas hung himself, but Acts 1 says Judas fell and his intestions burst.

I can go on if you would like.

A lot of these changes appear to be adjustments of grammar. That doesn't mean it was translated incorrectly, it just wasn't translated into the best English originally.

Others would appear to change meaning altogether from one version to the next.

Remember, the Book of Mormon itself does not claim to be perfect. On the contrary, the title page allows for errors. If a Mormon says the Book of Mormon is perfect, he/she does not understand his/her own doctrine. However, most Christians do believe in the infallibility of the Bible. They stake their entire faith upon it! Go to Wal-mart, you can find probably four or five different versions of the Bible on the same shelf.

Mormons place their faith in God and in the power of divine revelation. Not in ink and paper.
