Red hair dye question?

I used to have my hair dyed red for a really long time, but because it fades so quickly I stopped. Now my hair is blonde, and I want to dye it back to red. What products are the best that I can use on it that will keep the color brighter longer and reduce fading? That I can find outside of salons?

Have your hair colored at the salon...what money you will save up front by coloring it yourself...you will have to pay out down the road.. i.e. dry/damaged....dark ends...split ends...hot roots...lines of demarkation.

Make your salon color last longer:

NO HOT water on your head.. luke warm shampoos

NO steam room trips with your color on:(

Forget about chlorinated pools! ** can always use a cap**

Use a quality shampoo and conditioner that is designed for color treated or red hair. There are tons of these on the market. Do not get these from walmart... once again...go to the salon or a beauty supply dealer...rather then play guess with your hair.

I cant tell you how many heads of hair i've had to correct...from people wanting to save a little money. It always ends up costing more in the long run...and its very difficult to get your hair back to its previous condition.

**based on info provided in the question this is as far as i can go...anything further would be guessing...as ive not seen/felt your hair**

Red is the hardest color to keep fresh and from fading. If you are wanting a colour with staypower and something permanent, go for Feria by L'Oreal or try a henna.A henna on blonde hair is the longest lasting red applications arround. If you are wanting it to gradually fade out evenly...henna is the way to go.If you want to have to keep maintaining your roots then go for a permanent haircolor like Feria. It does keep the color nice but you do have to think about regrowth.

Red does not go into the hair well. The molecules are larger and that's why they fade. Johnny is right about the Redkin .Since you can't buy professional though go to your local Sally's hair place and ask them for one of their lines. Get a color shampoo...very important for the reds. You will just have to color more often since you like the reds.

L'Oreal Feria Colour Protect shampoo and conditioner is fab!

it makes your hair really glossy, soft and the colour seems to be revitalised with every use!

You can buy from stores such as boots or superdrug (its in an orange and yellow bottle) for about £2:99, WHAT A BARGAIN!!!

Well, it may be different for you than me depending in the texture of your hair. Plus, my hair has natural red in it.

I like the herbal essence dye and Feria (I like that one quite a bit!). If you want to re-dye, remember that red hair dyes weird so pick a shade about two away from the one on your head.

I use Pantane for red hair and it seems to be doing fairly well. They also make glossers now that boost your color and let you go longer in between dye jobs.

depending on how you dye your hair (e.i. vegetable dye vs. chemical) you could try a henna based shampoo/ products. henna leaves a beautiful red shade. but talk to your stylist, see if they're any help.

I think blonde hair will be sexiest, but brown hair can become really sexy too. Black hair will be never sexy. It's just really uninteresting and boring and flatters few constitution. Blonde hair looks best with glowing blue eyes.
