The age old question: DirecTV or Time Warner Digital Cable?
We are moving into a new house and trying to figure out which way to go with this... right now our apartment pays for our TV service and we are using DSL which we are getting pretty tired of. I would love FIOS but it still too expensive for us right now.
So which way to go as far as TV service?
Time Warner Cable or DirecTV
We don't have an HDTV but plan to get one within the next year or so, so we will probably be doing the HD DVR with whichever we get.
Thanks

We had Time Warner, we had complaints.
Our area changed to COMCASt. Even worse.
My neighbors all have either Comcast of Direct TV.
They all have the same complaints.
I have researched AIR, going with antena.
You can even use these indoors in Apt.
I am going with antena. I am getting enough TV. Like previous poster. Still nothing on!

Having FIOS means that you will have your own direct line from your home to the CO (central office), and you will not be sharing your signal with anybody. If you have cable Internet and sometime experience slowdown at specific time that is why, you are sharing your signal. I also like that with FIOS the fact of if you ever loose your power you will still have dial tone because of the bbu, that is if you have a non cordless phone. The best thing about FIOS I have to say is that they use a proud union work force, not contractors that get paid by the job. You can be sure that your job will be done the the highest standards.
Verizon FIOS also has a standard DVR box.

Have you looked into the Dish network? We used to have DirecTV but canceled it - we had a DirecTivo that broke, and they no longer support Tivos. They also wanted us to pay $300 to lease their HD-DVR. Dish gave us the HD-DVR for free - it's leased, but we didn't have to pay $300 for it. The interface is awful, but it gets better reviews than the DirecTV DVR. Plus, it has a USB connection so we can add an external hard drive to increase the storage space, which is a nice feature. It costs about the same as both cable and DirecTV. There are sometimes issues when it's raining or snowing hard, but around here the cable goes out during storms as well, so it's not a deciding factor.

if the wind blows with the dish, you loose your tv and i believe if you talked with comcast you can get all 3 services comcast offers way cheaper than what you are paying now, i have all 3 and i never been happier, thats phone service long distance and cable and computer and i pay 153.00 a month and i can talk anywhere in the usa for FREE, I also have 100 channels on my cable

FIOS is cheaper then regular cable where I live. If you own the house it is more pleasing to the eye not to have a satellight dish somewhere in the yard or on the roof.

DirecTV goes out when there is a thunder storm and the local TWC tends to lose local (San Antonio) channels late nights on a regular basis for whatever reason.

DISH Satellite is better customer service, than Direct TV. My Dad had DISH and when not watching satellite, were watching the Oklahoma City TV stations.

I say flip a coin, the two are equal... i've had them both.
whatever you choose, there is still nothing to watch on Sunday!
