well first to register your name you have to contact the county they will assist you to register your name, you will have an option with that to register your name in a state or nation the different is that state one would stop anyone in your state to not be able to use your business name, but that would allow other states to be open that your business name could be used by another person. Nation would cover the whole country can't have your business name and I am also not too sure but you can even go further to international.
So you would need to contact or go on your county website this is for the U.S I am assuming your in the U.S if not then you would have to contact your countrys gov agencies.
What type of business would you like to get into??
I would suggest what ever you want to get into start out on the web becuse it's the cheapest way to start a business and you wont lose your shirt in it. So I would first start there once you build up your business you can then buy commerical property and start a store or somthing.
I would suggest to learn accounting since that's what the guts of business relies on . Accounting would teach you have to predict your costs and how to tell if your business is doing good or bad and also would give you the ability to know how to adjust your business base on a countries economy.
hope this helps if you need more help check out this website:

Buy the book Business plan for dummies.
first you need a business plan
you'll need a lawyer to incorporate
you'll need a tax id number
don't even think about doing the bottom two without an excellent business plan. you'll need your proposal. Your business projections for the next year and fiver years and how you intend to pay the bank back.. list All your upfront costs. list your collateral, usually need 35%. You'll need a list of references-professional that will support you-lawyer, investors, etc.
