BECAUSE child custody is a state issue not a federal one. Women getting custody is a recent happening. The child used to be thought of as property of the father. Now custody is determined on best interest/primary parent. Most men don't want custody- right now 40% of those that do get custody relinquish the children to their mothers or sisters. They simply get custody for spite.

You can't give a fetus rights over a woman. Most women do not have abortions.

Feminists are never second rate- but those who want women in second place are.

Child custody is a private affair until there is some illegal activity involved in individual cases. The labour force is not a private affair. Either way, feminists have asked for legislation requiring more women to be CONSIDERED for managerial positions.

And by the way, being a first-class woman has never done a damn thing for me. If those are my options, I'm happy to be a second-class feminist.

I agree with the Professor. I didn't realise that 40% of men gaining custody passed the kids off to their family - that's terrible :-( but I don't doubt it.

The reason they are not marching on Capitol Hill demanding fathers receive equal rights is because there is a bias in the feminist movement against men. I find it unfortunate that feminists instead of empowering women, make us out to look like victims. They encourage the belief that women are always the victims of men and we shall therefore, not take responsibility for our actions. We can accuse men of just about anything and we are never questioned because we are the victims. We can do whatever we want with our bodies regardless of the consequences because we are the victims. The feminist movement may have done a lot of good back in the day but it's now creating a divisiveness that is unnecessary and demeaning to both men and women.

Sorry, but I think the best PERSON should be manager... and the best PARENT should have primary custody... I don;t believe that possession of a specific set of genitalia makes one better or worse at a specific job...

As for abortion.... When a fetus states unequivocally that it does not wish to be aborted, AND can show legal justification to why it should be allowed to use and damage the woman's body despite her lack of consent, perhaps it will have a say in the matter.... ;)

Feminists are in favour of ending all artificially enforced gender roles, if men wish to play a greater part in child rearing and raising, they should be encouraged to do so. You will find one of the biggest complaints of the feminist movement is the amount of unpaid work (esp care work) that women do, which includes childcare. A greater balance between paid and unpaid work between all genders would be to the benefit of everyone :-)

Oh yes, the men will be mowing one another down to become primary caregivers. Their careers will end up in the toilet and they will end up working from sunrise to midnight every day just like their ex wives, lol!

Most divorces are uncontested; men don't want to be primary caregivers because they're not willing to make the sacrifices. Many can't even hardboil eggs, and kids need decent food to eat.

An embryo is no more a person than cake batter is a cake. It is merely the potential for a person; its contains only the raw materials.
