94 camry transmission question?

94 v6 camr, 230K miles Check engine light is on, od flashing, no overdrive. It used to be intermittant but not any longer. I replaced the ECM so it is not that. What do you techs out there think the chances it is the overdrive solenoid valve. I have a new valve but I ask because I must drop the valve body to replace it.

I would say that it is probably time for a rebuild. Toyota make a killer tranny , but 230k it is probably time. It could be just the soleniod. Dropping the pan and inspecting what is in it is the best way to know. If there is metal or burnt clutch material it will need a rebuild. If the pan is clean I would say replace the valve and see what happens. Inspect the internal harness as well for damaged pins and broken connectors. Good luck!
