Do People who support Obama due so because of his Race?
It seems people I have talked to that support him have an under lying motive for Doing so. Most seem to think that is is time for a "BLACK" candidate because their time has been a long time coming. I agree that blacks have had it rough over the last several hundred years but that should not be the reason to put Obama into office. We need to put someone in the White house because they are the best qualified candidate. They have to have the experience of leadership under their belt as well as a clear view on the issues. These are things that he is missing.
I applaud all of your answers, even those who support Obama had some valid statements. I believe the answers you all gave actually make up what the majority of Americans feel. I also feel that if Obama was to wait until 2012 then no one could argue his experience and he would be a much stronger candidate for the Democrats. You need to realize that 2 years ago Obama himself said he would not run for President because of his inexperience. What changed was he has an edge now and his inexperience is of no consequence to his supporters. By the way for those who talk him being a visionary of change and hope. Hope is for those who don't have a plan in life. We need someone who does have a plan. And I do believe it is Hillary.

I have been saying this same thing for months. I'm just glad to read others saying it too. Who supports Obama?
1. 94% of blacks. Wow! Whoop dee doo! Blacks support him just because he has the same skin color as them.
2. The Youth vote. Am I wrong or is the youth vote the least wise and knowldgable vote in the entire country? Who has more wisdom and knowlededge, a kid or an adult? I take my hat off to the young people who are demonstrating wisdom and knowledge by wanting Clinton for pres. Clinton has 8 years experience at the national level as a US senator but you have to minus 15 months from that because she has been running for president. That leaves her with 81 months experience. Obama has 2 years experience but you have to take 15 months from that because he's been running for president for 15 months. That leaves 9 months. Which is more, 9 months or 81 months. Also, the young people I talk to who say they want Obama say that they want change from the Bill Clinton years. I ask them why they want change from the Clinton years. They say, "Clinton was a little better than Bush." Give me a break! Under Bill Clinton we had the best years of peace of prosperity America has seen the last 50 years, and while we were having those splendid years Bill also was balancing our budget. These young people are dumb punks is what they are.
3. Obama has a small lead in the egghead highly educated vote. It is not a huge lead like he has with blacks and the young but it is a small lead. I think that lead Obama has amongst the highly educated is about 5 - 7 pts. But those highly educated want to give blacks a gift of the presidency because they are fully aware of all the suffering that blacks have endured. I think it's sad that blacks have endured a lot but I don't think that we should give an inexperienced, too liberal, anti-american, anti-white/racist, anti-rural, anti-israel, pro-muslim black man the presidency just so we can give blacks a present. I have a bachelors degree. I support Hillary Clinton.

No, i've got not got faith Democrats for McCain (celebration solidarity My ***) had something to do with race. however my own very own opinion approximately Powell is that he supported Obama through fact of his race. He has come to his senses however, he admitted Sunday morning that he thinks Obama made a large mistake, relating Gitmo.

No you are totally wrong about his leadership qualities and views on the issues. I am voting for him because he is the first inspirational, sincere and hopeful candidate we have had in many years. I am not concerned with whether he is black or a woman. It is not "time" for either a black or a woman, it is time for someone to change how things are done and unite everyone in the process. Hillary cannot do this, McCain cannot either. If it were not for Obama, I wouldn't be interested at all to again have to pick the lesser of 2 evils!

Maybe it will help if you think of it like this:
We've seen that any ol' rich white boy can run and get elected if his pappy is behind him. Thus, the duty-shirking, drug-using, drunk-driving cheerleading alcoholic liar becomes President. And chumps love him until his flock turns their backs on him.
Now, imagine how far above that measure a person of color must rise in his personal, professional and political life just to be considered a candidate.
Now, to rise from candidate to party nominee requires an even higher degree of competence, character and intelligence.
Compare the two and you will see that Barack Obama outshines the competition, because he HAS TO, just to be in the game.
Now, imagine this country under a leader of that magnitude. Go ahead, close your eyes and imagine.
I mean, you are living in the result of the leadership of the duty-shirking, drug-using, drunk-driving cheerleading alcoholic liar. The mess he has made requires a much better man to guide us out of these quagmires.
That man will be President Barack Obama.

I disagree with the totality of your statement. I think some people are happy about the proposition of a black person finally getting to become President. It would have a ring of historical justice if you were old enough to see segregation with your own eyes.
However, I think people who are voting for Barack Obama are doing so out of an extraordinary repulsion of the policies- economic, social, and foreign- of the Bush administration and the Republican party as a whole; since they dominated the U.S. federal, state, and local governments from 2002-2006.
People need a since of total change. McCain is the last person to represent that, even though he is not identical to Bush, he is too close for most people's liking. Clinton suffers from the American people's memory of her husband (even though he was not all that bad). If Clinton won, we'd have the last twenty years of America history dominated by two political families, and the people don't like that prospect either.
So naturally, Barack is doing better than anyone thought he would have, and had he not associated himself, for twenty years, with that stupid, ethno racist, shout and yelp, silly superstitious church of the Chicago south side, he'd be going a lot better.

yes some people might but not me i'm an independent i ususally lean more towards the republican side but i think its time for a change and i think obama is offering that i like what i stands for i don't agree 100% with him no one will ever agree 100% with anyone but thats the way life goes i think he's the lesser of 3 evils and he'll do us good
ps my african american friend wasn't even gonna vote for obama until she looked into what he stood for and then she switched from clinton to obama not bc he's part african american i think thats how most african americans feel
pps i like the fact that he's black and white and he was raised by a white family bc he's not just seeing things from one side he's been on both and he's more well rounded

You're going to tell me the McCain has these qualities, how about Clinton. Maybe, you're going to tell me that being the owner of a baseball and the Governor of Texas qualifies you? YOU and the people who think like you have a standard for Obama than you do for the typical white presidential candidate because he's black.
Its says more about you than him.
All thumbs down in the world doesn't change the truth.

Yes, and the race voters will be out in force for the
general election. A friggin sad day for America.

I believe some support him because he's an American Black, just as some women support Hillary Clinton because she's a female. Truth be told, I don't like the candidates (Democrat or Republican) because I don't trust them. Hillary Clinton especially because she wants people to put her on a pedestal and she wants the power. Obama is charismatic but doesn't have enough experience and McCain, though he's not Bush, seems to flip-flop more than a fish out of water. But if I had to choose, I'd go with McCain.

Many people support Obama because of his race just as many peole will oppose Obama because of his race.
Each group will call the other racists.
