Need Advice.... Will it hurt? Around how much? Where should I go? etc....?

So I've been thinking about getting a tattoo on my palm. My concern is, is that a painful place to get it? I mean, I already have a tattoo but like...... I'm kind of skeptical about the palm.

My vision of the tattoo is a big star right in the middle of my palm and 4 itty bitty stars surrounding the points of the big star. Of course it won't be a huge star, just big enough to cover the middle of my palm.

I also want to know of a couple of great shops where I could get it done at. Any recommendations? I live in Los Angeles, CA.

And around how much would you think that will cost?

I have friends that say I shouldn't get that because I'll be "crazy" if I do get it. Some say its a bad place to get it, others say it won't look right,

Is there like, a........ downside of getting a tattoo on the palm? Like..... would that be right? Is there a risk?

Update:

Basically it would look something like this

That's just to give u an idea

Most tattoo artists will try to talk you out of that one, or will refuse to do it period. Reason being that tattoos on the palm have are very short-lived integrity-wise. The skin on your hands is in constant use as you handle things, touch things, gesture, etc, and the skin on the palms is also much thicker than regular skin. These elements combine to cause palm tats to blur much more quickly than other tattoos.

While some people still get them, this is definitely something to think about. If I were you, I would choose a location where the tat would have a better chance of survival =)

    Best of luck!

It will hurt more than say, your arm, or your leg, because it the bone is closer to the surface. But then again, your hands are probably tougher skin so...

As for the downsides, there are ALWAYS downsides to getting tattoos. On the palm there is no way to hide it during a job interview, etc. Or the ever classic, what if you hate it in a few years?

i have two friends who are heavily tattooed and they said their palms were the worst pain they've ever felt out of all their tattoos. the thing with palm tattoos is that you really have to find someone who actually knows how to do them and is experienced with them because tattooing palms requires a different sort of ink application that other areas of your body.

that being said, even if you go to someone who's done palms before, it's possible (especially based on how well you take care of it/how much you use it) that some areas will get blown out anyway. don't let a tattoo artist do your palm if they've never done any before.
