How is this not voter fraud?
I recently heard about Steven Ybarra (California Superdelegate, Democratic Party) who has announced he will vote for whichever candidate gives him $20 Million to fund a project of his to register immigrants in the Four Corners area of the United States.
While I agree that we (as a country) should have as many eligible voters out there registered and given lots of information about the candidates so that they can vote their consciences, I'm confused on the point of exchanging a Superdelegate vote for $20 million.
How is this a legal move?
Isn't this considered voter fraud because he's selling his vote to the first party who will meet his demands?

It is legal because the Democratic Party is a PRIVATE organization -- like you joining a local Elk's Club.
Superdelegates can use any criteria they want to cast their vote. Clearly Mr. Ybarra chooses money. I don't agree with it but that's how the DNC apparently likes it or they'd change it.
But to add some additional information. Many of the superdelegates received donations/funds from BOTH candidates already. Ybarra is just a little more outspoken about the influence of money and is trying to raise his public approval in that area.

The Republican Bar Association looked for it too, to bolster the concept of voter fraud, they found a miniscule amount, most of it by poll workers, not by voters. That lady who voted six times for instance, was a worker, not just someone trying to commit voter fraud, she's old and more than a little confused. I don' think anyone has found any evidence of a big enough voter fraud of any sort that would change a national election, with the possible exception of Florida, they have some serious problems in that state, and not just in the Bush/Gore election, where no one ever explained why a previously solid Democratic area suddenly went Republican, except for the unclear ballot, the infamous chads were only one problem, it looked like you were voting for Gore, but the line was actually Bush. Even that wasn't deliberate fraud. It simply isn't worth the money spent to keep proving that its too small and too marginal to really need a whole new body of government to run a new bureau to take the pictures and keep the records. We do have systems now in place, though too many don't apparently vote and don't realize that when they make baseless complaints.

It is likely allowable because the "donation" of $20 Million would be going towards a not-for-profit cause. Like a charitable act. It is still deplorable and I don't know that Democratic Party votes are subject to the same regulatory criteria that Federal Election votes are.

It's the typical kind of stunt I have come to expect from the democratic party. Their lack of interest in the issue of illegal immigration is based solely on the fact that there is not a single one of the illegal immigrants that would vote other than democrat. They want the party in power that will give them whatever they want.
The last time I was in the four corners area, there weren't a lot of people there at all. Maybe it has become crowded with illegal immigrants.
Buying and selling votes is not new to the democratic party. I'm not certain it's even unique to the democratic party.

Umm. . . this does happen everyday. Look at Magic Johnson's support for Hillary. She gets state money to back his buildings- many of which are market-rate luxury developments.
Steven Ybarra is at least honest and bold- at least in this situation.

Sounds bad but I am not familiar with this case.
And, again, the primary process is a private process, not a public one. Each party makes it's own rules.

Its as stupid as the system that gives "super"delegates a more powerful voice than the votes of the American people.
