Homeschool Tracker, Edu-Track, or....??????

Okay, I'm on the hunt for an electronic planner/organizer/grade-keeping/transcript-making program. I know of several things I can mix and match, but I'm looking for something like Homeschool Tracker or Edu-Track. Both of those don't "excite" me, though, as I'm used to my DH's programming in Access with Visual Basic. The two programs just look "cheap" and a bit "clunky".

Has anyone used either of those two, or something better/different? Can you give me some input? I'm running a PC with XP. I'm looking for something customizeable that can carry us through middle and high school courses (with some possible college dual-credit courses).

I may just end up using an Access template database and having my DH tweak it for my needs/wants. I just don't want to bug him if I can help it. I already do that with our co-op's database.

TIA!

Update:

Edited to add: well, I found Edu-Track's online demo and with the larger screen shots, it does look preferable to Homeschool Tracker.

Soooo, has anyone used both? Pros and cons to each? Compare/Contrast???

Update 2:

Here's the online tour of Edu-Track:

Well I love homeschool tracker. Sorry I can't tell you anything about edu track. I do know that I've tried another program before HST, and I hated it, it was called K12 Journal. Yuck! I never even got to the point of making actual lesson plans, it was too hard just to set up student information!

The lifetime free updates, and the ability to share lesson plans and easily reschedule are wonderful parts of HST.

Edu-track may be just as good or even better, I haven't tried it so I don't know.

Here is a discussion about both programs by some people who have used both:

Oh, and I looked over the webshots for Edu-Track, and I remember reviewing them before... it looked frighteningly similar to K12 Journal, thats why I opted for HST.

I've used HST+ but not Edu-Track. There's also Homeschool Easy Records.

The one to use will depend on what you are actually wanting from it. By customizable, what do you mean exactly? How much do you want to be able to customize?

While HST+ might be cheap, you get lifetime free updates and excellent customer service. Something to keep in mind.

I don't know if Edu-Track or other programs have forums, but HST has a forum you can ask all your specific questions in. If one of the users doesn't have an answer, the creators/company owners will! http://www.homeschooltracker.com/discuss.aspx

I have not used Edu-Track, but I have used Homeschool Tracker. I was not impressed with it - I just watched the Edu-Track link you sent and it looks much, much better. Good luck with your search, and wish I could be of more help.
