How do folks figure McCain can beat Obama when the best speaker always wins in recent history?
Reagan vs. Carter
Reagan vs. Mondale (landslide victory)
Bush vs. Dukakis
Clinton Vs. Bush
Clinton vs. Dole
Bush vs. Gore (actually Gore won the popular vote) split decision here
Bush vs. Kerry (What were people thinking? Kerry was so dull)
Obama vs. McCain (He can't keep a hyper kid awake)
Your thoughts?
Obama has "Rock Star" status in this election and McCain will be left pandering to retirement communities. How would he be able to overcome Obama's stature?

Yes I Agree
The best speaker is usually the best president for the Job,
The fact that they can speak well tells you they can do other things well too.
Obama is very similar to JFK
McCain is more similar to Bush then JFK

Obama is an out and out liar, he wouldnt know the truth if he stumbled over it, when asked a question he didnt want to answer he does and song and dance around it and then when hes against the wall he ekes out bits and pieces until he feels people are satisfied. You may not like what McCain says but he honest to a fault, at times. I want to see the faces of Obama supporters when he loses. He may speak like a pro but when youre telling a lie people can see thru it. Ill bet when he loses Hillary will be the first to say "I told you so".

You answered your own question when you said "Bush vs. Kerry"
As far as speaking goes,
Obama is just a black John Kerry WITHOUT the military record. McCain is Bush WITH the military record.

The one thing that is different here is that we all know what McCain stands for but no one is very sure what Obama stands for. Yes the man is a good speaker but a man that does not make it clear were he stands is a dangerous one.

Obama MIGHT be the better speaker when he speaks by himself, or when he gives a speech.
But in debates, he is a coward (he refused to debate with Clinton in the Douglas Lincoln style). So McCain would win the debates, and by your own theory, McCain would win the election.

Because the most powerful voting block in the US is retirees and they will not support an anti American elitist with radical muslim ties like Obama.

The last 8 years were not a legitimate presidency---Bush was "appointed" in 2000, and in 2004 he stole the vote in Ohio.....so he is not really our president--but, it has always been the game of the republicans to seize the power at any cost---and so I think that they already have cooked up something dirty to have Obama lose if he wins the nomination....

I have never really though much about that. Reasons that McCain would win against Obama mainly pertain to McCain being less liberal than Obama and Obama's utter lack of experience and accomplishments.

Dukakis was a lawyer and charismatic while Bush I was not, Bush just had better polices and a wife who was not a junkie

Bush is a best speaker? Best fibber maybe and Reagan quoted his movie lines as if they were real life.

So, you're saying that Bush is a better speaker than any other candidate against whom he ran? Nucular? Misunderestimated? His inability to pronounce Abu Ghraib a month after it happened?
