Disagree - the Civil Rights movement has helped African Americans in many ways but it is mostly because of those who respect the laws of our country. We have a long way to go and we will never see true equality in rights. Regardless of laws and social pressure there will always be those on the street who lack the maturity to accept their obligations and those in political office who find rewards in failing to back the laws of our land.

It wasn't a total success right off the bat. It takes many years to change the mind frame of people. There is still a lot of racism in America, and it's not all committed by white people. We will never be free of racism, but it is a lot less prominent than it was 50 years ago.

Disagree but it was a first step. You can have a new law but the fading generations will not get over their fears of those different overnight.

I agree. This election proves it. We have an African American running for president. This is progress!

If I say yes, I will be saying that they have equality, which blacks will deny and say I am racist.
If I say no, I will be saying that the civil rights movement was a failure, and blacks will say I am a racist.
I'm takin' the 5th.
