cut a piece of geranium stem with several leaves, remove the lower two leaves,

put the cutting on a table without any water

this is a very important step, the cutting needs to callus and the end needs to dry thoroughly prior to being planted or placed in water.

after the cutting has dried for at least a couple of hours, lightly dust the cut end with rooting hormone and place in water

do not let any leaves be submerged

if you don't have rooting hormone just place the cutting in water after it has dried for several hours

place in a window that gets bright indirect light

plant when roots are 2 inches long

EDIT- as someone who has taken 500 cuttings every morning for weeks I do recommend the air callusing because it reduces the incidence of rot and when a home gardener has only a few plants to take cuttings from you don't want to run the risk of letting even one of your babies rot.

use a sharp knife also. fluff

sure they could desire to be nice. they're additionally are fairly straightforward to take cuttings from. so which you will get greater vegetation for decrease than the fee of the potting compost and rooting powder you're ultimate to take the cuttings in early Spring, yet I genuinely have taken them in summer season additionally. Any container the size of a polystyrene cup will do. Fill it to 3 million inch from the suitable with the compost. Take a reducing approximately 4 inches long from purely decrease than a leaf joint, and with approximately 4 leaves on it. cut back it off with a pointy knife to get a sparkling cut back. get rid of any flower buds and all however the suitable 2 leaves and dip the stem in rooting powder. Make a hollow with a pencil approximately 2 inches deep in the compost and insert the reducing, and gently employer the compost around it. Water it and place it on the window ledge. shop the compost incredibly damp, yet no longer moist. In some month it may be okay to plant the reducing right into a incredibly greater beneficial pot. I take approximately 4 cuttings from each plant each year. So I constantly have a lot for putting baskets and tubs. i like to make those as much as supply as presents. Beulah

New growth cutting will root in water in 5-7 days. Sorry Fluff, you don't have to let cuttings dry - cut, to water immediately. Change the water if it gets cloudy.

Grape leaf geraniums won't root in water, must use rootone, place in damp potting soil.
