Is the “Obama Exit Strategy" wise?

OK, this keeps running through my mind every time Senator Obama talks about pulling troops out of Iraq.

I can just see our troops told they have to relocate to Afghanistan because that is where the real enemy is located. They line up, just as players do at the end of a football game, and shake hands with the Al Qaeda. The Al Qaeda tells them “Good game, I really thought you had it won … too bad” and “Hey, next time we meet you will get home field advantage”. This as the Al Qaeda begins their “pilgrimage” from all over the Middle East to Iraq. Before boarding the planes to leave country we shake hands with the Iranian insurgents who just look at us and say “We really love that new coach of yours, best player on our team” and “Looks like you shouldn’t have been here in the first place”. They begin to laugh hysterically.

Now, we begin to greatly increase our numbers into Afghanistan. To picture this, the way I do, draw a line in the ground. On the left is Afghanistan and on the right is Pakistan. Take a bucket full of plastic toy soldiers and dump them on the ground in a pile. Be careful NOT to let them cross the line on the Pakistan side. This is the U.S. Military, now put a table and two plastic figures playing cards, most likely “fish” on the Pakistan side. There is no reason to add any more troops to those figures because they are on a constant “pilgrimage” to Iraq (just as they were during the initial battles in Afghanistan). There are also more moving into sectors not controlled by the U.S military in Afghanistan. We of course can only go there when the allied country with that area of responsibility leaves. Then is the only time we can engage the Taliban or Al Qaeda in those sectors. As for the massive new number of American troops in the North the rules of engagement are clear “We will wait here until we have captured Osama bin Laden, this is what we should have been doing in the first place”. As we gather strength in unnecessary numbers we sit and wait while Ayman al-Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden continue to play cards amused at the incredible U.S. Military with so many troops the only casualties are that of fratricide.

Quite frankly we have not seen this kind of Military strategy since President Johnson or Saddam Hussein.

Update:

Additional information was on his most recent speach explaining that we depart from Iraq now without delay. We will also increase troops to Afghanistan to accomplish the mission against OBL.

Update 2:

I retired from the Army in 2000 after 24 years of service. I would also like to add that increasing the forces in the north of Afghanistan will only result in fratricide (friendly fire) while all the time waiting for an enemy that will be moving into Iraq to fill the void. Just as they did when we attacked Afghanistan in the first place.

Wow, did you catch the fact that the surge and driving out AlQuada were coincidental? What managed to drive them out was our alliance with various factions of insurgents (you know, the Iraqi freedom fighters who were trying to drive out all unwanted forces in their country, both AQ and the US). The Iraqi people did in a few months what we could not do over the course of several years. In fact, we were the primary (if not the sole) reason AlQuada thought they could get a foothold in Iraq. Our leaving and having AlQuada flood in as we leave is a scenario that only exists in Bushaganda.

The only reason the religious extremists are going to Iraq is to kill Americans.

Once the Americans leave, so will they.

Not to say it will all be peace and quiet, the Sunnies and Shites will be at each others thoats as soon as we leave. But it's their country, let them work it out, they didn't come over hear and bug the US when we were having our disagreement over slavery a while back.

Of course the whole argument is moot. As soon as I saw you compare the invasion and occupation of a soverign nation to game where overpaid meatheads smash into each other I knew trying to convince you of a differing opinion would be pointless.

People are getting killed. This is not a game, with shiney uniforms and toy soldiers. Dead people don't think games are very fun. Ask the mother of wife of a slain vet and they'll tell you how fun the game is.

We aren't fighting Al Qaeda anymore in Iraq. We are fighting the Shiites we freed.

You act like we are in some kind of competition with people who run into buildings with bombs and kill themselves. You are trying to "defeat" people who are already defeated. The objective should be to find the ones responsible for 9/11 and leave the rest to wallow in their own misery.

Can you provide a link to Obama's military strategy please?

While you are at it, can you please provide the number of years you played with toy soldiers so we get some kind of idea of your expertise of combat strategy?

Interesting, so increasing troops in Afghanistan wi increse friendly fire but increasing troops in Iraq wouldn't.

Obama knows absolutely nothing about the military, hasn't a clue about the job he wants desperately, and has no strategy on any subject, So the real question is why would anyone vote for this fool???? I know I won't////
