If you have to believe in something, it's not science, it's religion. Ever wounder why no one "believes" what the speed of light is?

It's winter and 60 below in the Arctic. The ice isn't melting.

Once upon a time in the not too distant past, there was an ice age. Ice covered the North American continent in some places with ice measuring thousands of feet deep. It all went away, with its only remaining remnants being today's glaciers in the Northern states and provinces.

WHERE DO YOU THINK ALL THAT ICE WENT, AND HOW DO YOU THINK IT GOT GONE?

Global warming and freezing are natural and reoccurring events. They can be (and are) historically proven. Stop worrying about the future. Look to the past and you will see you have little to worry about. Ignore fools who tell you we have holes in the ozone because of cattle-feeding lots in Nebraska. If that were true, consider what damage would have been done by the millions of free-roaming buffalo that once covered the plains of North America.

Current data clearly indicates a repetition of events that happened just prior to the last ice age. I am one of those that firmly believe that the cold is coming. Buy a good coat.

The problem with citing the fact that we know the polar ice caps are melting now, and using that to claim that global warming is real is that we don't have accurate data in the past that describes how the ice caps behave. What if they cyclically advance and retreat, as some data suggests, and we are simply in a retreat stage right now?

Okay, so the polar ice is melting. The earth's climate is changing. Why should we view this fact with fear?

The average annual rainfall in the Senora Desert of Arizona is less than 5 inches per year. If the rainfall amount suddenly increases to 50 inches per year, all the current vegetation that was accustom to the dry conditions would likely die.

New vegetation that thrives in heavy rainfall conditions would arise to take advantage of the vacated niche.

The same will happen in the polar region. Perhaps polar bears and seal populations will dwindle, but other species will move into the region to take advantage of the vacated niche.

Conditions on planet Earth are constantly changing. It's not something to fear. It's something to observe and study.

confident and fat Al runs around like chicken Little screaming " The Polar Ice caps will met in case you do no longer force a Prius !! ...The Polar Ice Caps will soften in case you do no longer force a Prius !!!! " on a similar time as fat Al drives around in a limo that gets 6 mpg if he's fortunate BTW - that's a similar fat Al who has been photographed while his yacht dumped untreated waste + used oil into the sea that's a similar fat Al that lives in a 14,000 sq. foot mansion that makes use of sufficient electricity to potential a small city

Do I believe that global warming is taking place? Yes. It may be 60 below in the arctic but it used to be 62 below and in another 20 years it will be 52 below. The polar ice caps are not shrinking for no reason.

There is nothing to believe. GLOBAL WARMING IS HAPPENING!!!! The question is "are humans responsible?" Humans give off the same amount of CO2 emissions in a year that the earth gives off in a single day. So maybe humans should cut down on wasting things and start recycling. either way, to even consider that it isn't happening means that you are believing the retard 1% and not the other 99% of the professionals and scientist. The news always seems to find a contradiction to the fact by finding some one person who thinks otherwise and then the news calls it a debate.

    IT'S ICE ! duh

    .....ICE MELTS !

In the winter new ice forms.

    Several factors to think about:

The earth is moving 2 inches closer to the sun every year.

The ice polar caps have shifted in the past.

Temperature "warming" trends have been recorded before in the 1800's BEFORE the industrial revolution.

The industrial revolution is calculated to be responsible for only 8 tenths of ONE degree .08 of 1

IF the temperatures warm a bit, we'll have more land available for crops to feed the ever increasing world population.

China is just now BEGINNING it's own industrial revolution, and the "world" leaders have given them 20 years to freely pollute without having to impliment any restrictions on their factories pollutants.

If there is a real crisis, it's going to take world wide cooperation effort, which will never happen, so the question is moot.

All industries have been killing all the people for decades, with pollutants, and posionious products. They are not going to stop because of a few people that squeek now. They've already greased their rails by having in place laws that protect their ability to continue polluting.

  • Yes those of us who have taken the time to study the topic do believe the conclusions of the scientists that have studied it. Unfortunately, there are those who choose to remain ignorant and just accept the Bush doctrine of "if I say it's not real, then it's not real." These are the same kind of people who probably think it's okay to dump industrial waste into our rivers, streams, and oceans because it costs big business too much money to dispose of it properly. I wonder how these folks would feel if we just started dumping our trash in their back yards. It's unfortunate that Bush decided to politicize the issue instead of getting on board with the Kyoto protocol, but, most of us already knew what a dunce Bush was long before all that....

Unfortunately a lot of people do, they have been indoctrinating children to accept this new liberal religion in school by their liberal bent teachers. I don't know if the earth is warming or cooling, no one else does either, this has been a natural process for thousands of years. This scam allows people to be scared into accepting higher taxes and more government control over their lives. Also people like Al Gore are hawking global warming and investing in companies that will make money from his propaganda, he made a suggestion recently we need a carbon tax, get the picture.
