Helper obviously hasn't priced brakes in a shop for a while. And even I would be leery of someone quoting that low for a car THAT old. From liability standpoint, a car that old should have the rear hardware replaced, the wheel cylinders replaced, the drums resurfaced or replaced, and the shoes replaced. Want to hear squealing every time you brake? Go with the $25.00 brake shoes. Want the linings to come apart in a year? Go with the cheap stuff. Want it to be safe for both you and the other drivers on the road? get it repaired correctly and with quality name-brand parts. It may be MY grand kids you kill when the brakes fail due to cutting corners,,,,,,,,,,,,

For REAR brakes !! That sounds high. That should be the price for ALL FOUR corners. OK maybe about $250 for all four corners.

Figure about $25 for parts and about 1 hour for labor. 2 hours if the mechanic is slow.

But either way that kind of high for just rears.

Call the dealership and ask for their price. Non dealer should always be cheaper than that.

    Good Luck.
