Why is shooting a Qu'ran a story worth reporting by mainstream media?

I don't know. After I read the literal translation of a Qu 'ran from the Middle East, I pissed on it, let it dry than burned it.

It is the most evil book ever written and it should be gathered and burned.

Long Haired...Let's see...how about you look at every current conflict around the world and see that almost 100% involve Muslim hostilities...get a clue.

BP...The Bible and Christianity is banned in many countries. You are absolutely wrong. China, for example has many Christian ministers underground and Bibles smuggled in, but if caught they are arrested.

Long Haired...I did answer it. They do not have to invade as a national army. They invade in a different manor. Their idea of war is different than your narrow view. It does not mean that they are not at war with any and all who are not Muslims.

iraqisax...you need to stop reading the liberal BS and get out. I spend 1/3 of my year over seas every year. The rest of the world does not hate us. There are a few media outlets who are worse than our liberal medias. However, the people do not hate us. As a matter of fact, on the whole they do not think about us at all. They find it laughable that we think that we are so important in the minds of others. In other words, they find comments like yours to be very arrogant.

ADDED: I say we gather all we can find and have huge bonfires. Shooting it is not enough...most of that evil book could still be read.

The reason it made news b/c it was in an area where desecrating the Qu'ran is a big deal and people take it very seriously.

The soldier was a complete idiot.......I mean its common knowledge that Muslims in the middle east hold the Qu'ran as something very sacred and get distressed when its even accidentally dropped and this numbnut shoots one?

Here we are trying to make ourselves look like the good guys and this guy desecrates something holy to the natives. Thats like raping a natives cheifs daughter...its sure to piss the locals off.

Ohh and on a sidenote.....if this was a very devout christian area and someone shot a bible.....it would also make news my friend!

edit- jwthoughts I don't know what you read but judging from what you said you did not read the Qu'ran b/c I read it hoping to prove Islam is evil and after reading every word I realized I was wrong and Islam is a great religion...and I've been to mosques and middle eastern countries too

For the main stream media to report on this story is to open America up to even more hatred than before from those who despise us. Bad move, in my opinion. That aside, our liberal media couldn't care less about a Christian's bible being desecrated in any way. These are the same people who endorse the removal of Christ/prayer from our schools, banish nativity scenes at Christmas, changed "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Holiday's" and balk at our own pledge of allegiance ("...one nation under God..."). Double standards? You bet!

The one sort of humorous side to the story is that since the soldier who shot up the Qur'an was shipped out of Iraq, I wonder just how many other copies of it will show up riddled with bullets?!

Desecrating a Qu'ran is much more inflammatory than doing the same to a Bible. To Christians, the Bible is God's word, but its just a book. Muslims hold the Qu'ran much more sacred. They will be enraged by the story of an infidel desecrating their holy scriptures. Reporting its desecration in the mass media generates ratings and spreads negative information about the conduct of soldiers and marines in the war, thus bolstering the media's anti-war agenda.

Political Correctness run a muck.

You can drag an American flag through the streets, light it on fire, burn bibles so on and so forth, but say or do anything that upsets people that are not even American and the press is all over it!!

Freedom of speech has a double standard. If the left is burning a flag, its their right. If the right says something against an Islamic Extremist, they are a racist and the left wants them censored.

I don't think it is a double standard, in that there is so much trivial junk out there (Obama flag pin, Obama w/o his hand over his heart).

There is a huge difference between something like Abu Ghraib and some idiot shooting a book.

Because it is actions like this that have made us the most hated nation on the face of the Earth. When an American service member in an occupied nation abuses or humiliates local citizens, steals or destroys their property, or ridicules their religion, we become hated.

Our politicians work overtime to make us resented by the rest of the world. It is unacceptable for a member of the military to act like that.

Because reporting it is in keeping with their liberal left-wing agenda. Double-standard? Surely you jest.

And, BP, The Bible is also NOT allowed in just about every public school in the United States because liberal, left-wing ACLU radicals think it's "offensive". The book 'Heather Has Two Mommies' is ok though.

You are seeing what we have been taught all our lives in our Christians churches, ,We are on our way out of here, God was ask to leave our government, .our media, our schools, and a lot of our homes, He is a gentlemen, he left, Since he interfered, with our evil ways, and America has been opened up to all other religion and cults. And there is no where left for the Christians, to run but to our heavenly Father, for guidance, and to bear it , until He comes to get his bride. As the Word tells us, That It rains, on the Just and unjust the same. So, just hang on Christians, pray ,pray and pray, we will come out the winners.

But the media and the government will rule us all one day, this is just the beginning.This is the truth. as I see it. As for as the media shooting the Qu'ran ,this is just the start, before long, we will have prayer blankets in the government office and our school's for Muslim worship. just prepare yourself. and keep the faith. because it's coming.

In Kenya, the Muslim terrorist that are trying to overthrow the Democratically elected government destroy Bibles and the people that own them. A couple of months ago, if you can recall, they killed Christians and burned many alive in their church when they sought sanctuary there.
