Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses accept blood transfusions, but other Christians do?Don't they use the same bible
"The official teaching of Jehovah's Witnesses regards blood as sacred and rejects allogeneic and stored autologous transfusions of whole blood, red cells, white cells, platelets or plasma. This is based on an understanding of the Biblical admonition to " abstain from ... blood," based on Acts 15:28, 29, and also on Leviticus 17:11,12, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood ... No soul of you shall eat blood," and of Genesis 9:3, 4, which they understand to be the first instance of "the Bible’s clear prohibition against taking blood into the body.""

If Jesus gave His blood that we may live can we not also give blood so another may live.
Pagans in certain places drank the blood of an animal this led to "blood madness" and "superior strength" and a lot of claptrap like getting the characteristic of the animal.... blah blah blah.
And many died from drinking tainted blood.
Now all the way back to the beginning God taught His people to drain the blood of an animal. That blood would putrefy and people would die from the meat if it was eaten. Without refrigeration meat spoiled quickly and even cooked meats had to be eaten in a day or two.
There is not a verse in the bible that talks about refraining from properly processed and administered human blood but from eating animal blood or the pagan rites and idolatry associated with animal blood.
Keep this in mind. The Watchtower has all but eliminated this injunction but not exactly. The followers of the Jehovah's Witnesses have to be double minded and they mark this up to "theological warfare". Publicly the Watchtower has said things like;"It is up to the individuals conscience", but within the injunction stands about blood.
Many JWs do not know that the Watchtower has okayed every part of blood but splits it up calling it fractions.
Also that "Hemopure" derived from cattle is okay to use by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Reminds me of the pit the pagans dug and draind the blood of a bull over a person baptizing them. Now the JEHovah;s Witnesses can partake of bovine blood.
The jeHOVAH's Witnesses have to be double minded and double think a lot to follow the twists and turns of Watchtower reasoning as it changes from one moon to the next moon.
New Illumination sounds like Babble to me.

Sure, if you can get away with NOT accepting a blood transfusion, then great dont accept it! Regardless of the fact that your a witness or not. Thats like saying, I did drugs back in 1985 and Im not addicted to them now so that makes it ok to try drugs. That doesnt make it ok to do drugs does it? There have been many, many JW's die from refusing Vaccinations, Organ transplants and Blood transfusions. That doesnt mean that you shouldnt accept any of these forms of treatments, just because a handful get away without accepting them. If you truly research the blood arguments you will realize that it was dietary laws regarding the EATING OF BLOOD. Witnesses will always use the arguement, " if an alchoholic is told not to drink, is it ok for him to transfuse alchohol into his blood??" But this argument is not the same, because one goes through the veins and one is digested. It is a difference between circulatory system and digestive system. Blood transfusions will not keep you from starving. ITS NOT THE SAME THING. There have been many people refuse blood for there child in need to later regret it after there death. This should be something, well researched by all JW's before an emergency happens. Research should not be based solely on WT literature but on actual experience from former and current witnesses. Have a nice day.

I guess, you could answer your own question, by pondering this.
When someone consumes (eats/drinks) what exactly is the process on which that material enters the blood stream?
After entering the stomach, fluids pass rapidly to the small intestine to be what? Absorbed into the blood stream?
So I ask, how is it different, to refrain from putting blood into the human body by drinking it or by having it put into the veins?
The trivialization of God's laws, is nothing new. Even when the law of the Sabbath was enacted, there were those who ignored and gathered wood.
Faith is faith. If you have faith that what God says is true, then you heed his rules. If you do not? Then you ignore them, and are in plentiful company.
That is why the verses say, that "wide is the path, and many are on it, leading off to destruction, but narrow is the path, and few are those that are finding it, that leads to everlasting life."
Both methods, are the same.
Do not let semantics deceive you, the prohibition, is the same. Just because technology found a way of bypassing the stomach and small intestine, does not mean that the prohibition can be also bypassed.
Of course this means nothing to those who place paramount importance to their current life, rather that the Resurrection capabilities of the grand creator.
nuff said.

Witnesses are not the only religious group, or culture that rejects blood transfusions, but growing amounts of people are also rejecting transfusions, such as people who work in the field.
There was a conference here of technicians from blood banks from all over the world. I had many in my taxi and in the discussion on blood, none said they would accept transfusions in this day and age. Every person who receives a blood transfusion have a reaction to it. It always represses the immune system, which is why it was used in the early days for transplants. Enough of it and the immune system is shut down. Of interest, the illnesses you get are not things like the common cold, but very rare diseases. The exact same diseases those who have AIDS get. Is it any wonder that less than 10% of those now refusing blood are witnesses. This is really hurting the profit margins of the companies that profit from the storage and transport blood.
The fact is that the Bible does say Abstain from blood, just as it says to abstain from fornication, in the very same scripture. Does it mean its okay to ignore the one if it is okay to ignore tha other?

If Christendom accepted the belief that blood transfusions are wrong then they would also have to acknowledge that Christmas, Easter, Birthday celebrations, and fornication are also wrong. Pedophilia and Homosexuality are also wrong but the churches are full of them and do not clean there congregations. Just think, if the churches changed and conformed to what the bible rightly teaches then we would all be serving the same God, leaving Satan all alone.

The reason why is because when someone can't eat, the doctors "feed" them through their veins. A blood transfusion is given through the veins and therefore is considered to be equal to eating blood.

Acts 15 just says 'abstain from blood; and abstain from things strangled' (meat with the blood left in...)
so EATING blood was the issue. It was symbolic of leaving the life in God's hands... (In part, the purpose is also to focus on the value of Christ's blood as surpassing...)
As Christians, Jehovah's Witnesses do not see where they can just ignore that injunction which the Jerusalem council termed "necessary"...
Nominal Christians are taught, "oh, don't worry about that... it's just talking about sacrificing to Idols". And so they ignore, not just the injunction, but the entire passage.
Obviously the passage is NOT JUST talking about blood sacrifices to Idols because it ALSO mentions "things Strangled" refering to eating blood along with the meat (as contrasted to ingesting the blood, alone.)
Basically this is a case of failing to make modern application. It's like saying, Since the Bible doesn;t mention GUNS, then a command against shooting you with a gun is not "in the Bible".
Re: this kind of logic, Galations 6 says, "God is not one to be mocked..."
i.e. "thou shalt not kill" is enough to cover shooting with a gun and "abstain from blood" is enough to cover transfusions...
...IF you want to DO what the Bible calls "necessary" for Christians!
This command is laid upon all humankind. Most people just don;t care...

'Seek and you'll find' has got it spot on!!
This stance by the Witnesses is another example of following man's word and not God's...many years ago pagan's sacrificed their children as a way of showing allegiance to the pagan God's.Today Jehovah's Witnesses have and do sacrifice their children through refusal of blood transfusion...sad stuff.
Peace to you

Because the Watchtower Society takes a single scripture too far.
Tell me this:
Why does the WTS now say it is acceptable to take blood fractions from donated blood, even when they feel blood donation is sinful?

Most professed Christian leaders wink at practices that are clearly forbidden in the bible, such as the practice of accepting blood. Ask yourself, because it is so widely accepted by these religious leaders, does that mean it's ok with God?
God made a heartfelt appeal to the Israelites because they were being misled by religious lies. (Psalm 106:35-40) We too must be on guard against falsehoods. Concerning professed Christians, Paul wrote: “There will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth.”—2 Timothy 4:3, 4.
Religious leaders tickle people’s ears by condoning practices that appeal to wrong desires, such as sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, and drunkenness. The Bible clearly states that those who approve of such things and those who practice them “will not inherit God’s kingdom.”—1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Romans 1:24-32.
To be sure, it takes courage to live by Bible standards, especially in the face of ridicule, but it can be done. Among Jehovah’s Witnesses are many individuals who used to be drug addicts, drunkards, fornicators, street fighters, thieves, and liars. Yet, they took God’s Word to heart and with the help of holy spirit made changes in their lives so as to “walk worthily of Jehovah.” (Colossians 1:9, 10; 1 Corinthians 6:11) Having made peace with God, they also gained inner peace and a genuine hope for the future.
You can too. Feel free to contact any Jehovah's Witness and they will be happy to show you what the bible REALLY teaches.
