Is a camcorder video of a parent spanking their kid valid evidence for Children's Services ?

Depends on the severity of the spanking. Let children's services decide.

Spanking a child is not illegal in the UK...however you cannot leave a lasting mark (bruise) Unless the child is being abused to the point of making the kids life a misery or it being in physical/emotional danger you should butt out

Grow up. Your questions have become most taxing and rather ridiculous. Spanking is not against the law in the United States and no camcorder tape of a child getting a couple swats on the butt is NOT valid evidence of child abuse. Please get that through your pretty little head :)

So basically you go around and video tape little kids getting spanked? BUT your worried about if the parents are breaking the law? If I saw you video taping my kid - I'd punch you then turn you over my knee! Good grief get a life.

and in my state we can still spank. The schools can still paddle so no it's not illegal.

It would be evidence enough IF the parent was abusing the child. Bit if it is just a regular spanking ( a couple whacks on the butt) they won't do anything except say to the parents not to do that anymore.

No. Being that spanking isn't abuse, it would have no impact. Spankings don't leave psychological nor physical turmoil.

NO! Not if it was just a spank, not a beating...I was spanked as a child and I have great parents that love me... Some people pick to disapline this way...if you are video tapping them without thier knowlage and that can be illegal!!!

Why would you? I am anti-spanking but was spanked as a child. (I am not anti-spanking b/c of my experiences with it as a child, BTW. I turned out just fine and have wonderful parents.) If someone would have taken me away from my parents for that...... that's just insane.

It depends on where you are and if this really was spanking or abuse. In the US spanking is not illegal but abuse is. Each parent has their own parenting techniques that work for them. They may not necessarily work for other parents.
