What is your opinion on the increase in gas costs?

What state are you in and how much per gallon do expect to see by 2009? I'm in GA, and I heard that it will hit $5/gal by the end of the year. I'm curious how much truth there is to this, but it's looking more like a reality thank I've ever thought in the past. I'm only lucky because I live 1 mile from where I work. And I already walk to work. But my husband & I had previously planned on moving to a place that would allow us to increase our savings even though I'd be further from work. Now, that plan has been put on hold. Due to the increase in gas costs, we would end up spending more. And before you say I'm whining, I assure you I'm not. I consider myself one of the lucky ones since I'm so close to my job.

I live in UT and our gas is almost at $4 a gallon. My husband has a 100 mile round trip travel to work everyday. I don't work and am greatful because it would just be more added cost that we can't afford.

It absolutely drives me nuts. My husband bikes a lot and can ride the 50 miles from work coming home, but he would have to ride in the dark in the morning which is not an option.

It is crazy. Something has to be done. The cost of food is outrageous. We have four kids which makes it harder to keep head above water with costs going up. There are only so many times one can get a raise.

We need to drill for more oil and refine it into gasoline. Specifically in Alaska and offshore in the gulf. Technology has advanced so that we can do this much safer than before and reduce the risk of spills or other environmental problems.

I know this is not a long term solution, but it will help in the short term to give us a more stable supply of domestic oil and reduce prices overall. This will allow us to figure out a long-term alternative that works and not just throw money at every idea that is out there. It will also give us time for a new alternative to be implemented, either for production of a new fuel to get started and be distributed or for people to replace their current vehicles with a new type. Believe it or not, that doesn't happen overnight.

Feeling the pinch for our addiction to oil is long over-due and something folks have been predicting for decades. Gas will increase in cost to the consumer. It might dip a little, but folks, just get used to this.

Drilling won't solve the problem, nor delay the inevitable by much.

I think it's disgusting how we've fattened the oil folks, but what did some of y'all expect after jumping on the GWB and Co. bandwagon the last 8 years? Duh.

Conversely, outrageous gas prices might just be the tipping point for something different. Alternatives... or gasp... American's excecising more?!?!? Cleaner air!?!?!

Holy smokes - maybe secretly that was the plan all along... thanks GWB!!!

I live in PA and right now gas is $3.85 a gallon. I fully expect to see $4 gas by mid summer. I have great difficulty accepting the price of gas being this high while the oil companies continue to enjoy record profits quarter after quarter. How our government can sit idly bye and allow this outrage is inexcusable. Basic common sense is all that is needed to realize that there is collusion taking place. The old standby excuses of a special summer fuel additive requirement and not enough refineries to meet demand are total BS and don't deserve additional attention. Of course when you put an oil man in the White House, don't be surprised when he pumps you dry.

I'm in s.florida. we are at $4 for reg. some other areas 3.89 range. well be nationally at $4 by end of this month or early next no doubt.

I can EASILY see us at $5+ by year end.

if you google and search online about our gas price projections from as far back as early as 3years ago....we are way ahead of where they thought we'd be in 2008. It's pretty sad.

You are very lucky to not have to pay much for your commute.

It's very difficult to predict gas prices. $5 a gallon is not at all improbable at this time.

if you women would have married a nice man with money like myself, you wouldn't have to work, you wouldn't have to worry how are you are going to afford gas.

yea, I know, you women tell me you love working, uh huh, yea right!
