First of all one is basically the same as the other...college math is "Algebra" solving quadratics , factoring and multiple equations simultaneously...Now college algebra is all about the visual graph of the formulas of algebra and how they might be related to some variable requirements...The graphing calculator is always an option and know how to input the data is an art in itself...but doing it w/o the calculator is time and data intensive and requires plotting and understanding of curvilinear formula...Both have a place but for me the college math is a breeze..nearly a gimme..advanced algebra can be more work but is do-able..
there ya go from the E

I agree with Poetland but you might want to depend a bit more on the course number than the names.
In my experience College math was for non math majors or for freshmen and Advanced Algebra was before Calc.
In order learned: College math, College Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Trig, Pre-calc, Calculus 1,2,3, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.

I just graduated with BS in mathematics and the last semester courses were math 322 advanced linear algebra and math 414, applied math. In my second last semester i took a course called math 315 advanced calculus.
Any math course which has a prefix of "advanced" means that it is meant for math majors when they are at the end of their major.
And generally calculators are NEVER allowed for such courses.
So college math is ofcourse easier. However the term "college math" is quite vague as it could mean numerous things -- calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, etc etc.
There is never a course in my university called, "college math"

"Advanced Algebra" is a meaningless phrase. When I was a graduate student at the University of Minnesota, I taught a zero credit remedial math class. It was the equivalent of 11th grade math. The title of the book was ADVANCED ALGEBRA.
At the same time, I was taking a second year graduate course in algebra that was extremely advanced -- but the title of the book was BASIC ALGEBRA.
Look at the prerequisites for the class to see which is harder. If they have the same prerequisites, then the one with the higher number is harder.

aka "college math" for non-math-majors
is MUCH easier than advanced algebra
