Should More States Enact Vote-By-Mail Systems?

I am from Oregon, the only state that is completely vote-by-mail. Local and state voting numbers are up since this was enacted. Presidential votes are up a little bit, too.

It's very easy: they mail the ballot to you, you fill in the arrow next to the person's name you want to vote for, and you stick it back into another envelope they send with it, you sign the envelope, stick a stamp on it (or drop it off if you want) and that's it.

You have about 2 weeks to make your decision on who you want to vote for, thus giving you ample time to decide and analyze each candidate, from you own home. This way, there's no taking time off work, and not finding time to go to the station.

What do you think of our system? Would you like your state to enact such a system?

Update:

I don't believe I've EVER heard of voting fraud under this system. No machines to go haywire, and no polling places for people to intimidate others at.

Update 2:

Q: How do you identify the person who voted is the person who was supposed to:

A: The signature on the envelope is compared by HUMAN EYES to the signature on file at the DMV. If it matches, the anonymous ballot is removed and thrown into a pile. If it doesn't, it goes into another pile, and further confirmation takes place.

Update 3:

Sorry, karl_popper_fan, I just though that having a system where everyone who wants to vote can, even if they can't physically get to the voting booth, was a good idea.

i think its a great idea. however i am not the most organized person, and i know i would lose the dang thing somewhere in a pile of bills that get tossed out on garbage day. lol

but great idea though. it would be better than having to go to a station and wait in line. specially if the weather is bad like it is here during our primary

Dave87gn, obama has proved his racism this week. GET YOUR data as we talk. No is the time to shelter your self and your loved ones. purchase extra weapons and ammo because of the fact the different idiots are way only before the stable working people of usa. Racism is a 2-way highway. the two factors use it to coach the different area incorrect. case in point, the HARVARD professor who's announcing racist issues to entice the attention far flung from his movements. And obama has proved his thoughts in this while not having each and every of the data in front of him!!

How do you know that the person who's name on the ballot is the one who voted? How many deceased people are still voting this way? How about someone stealing the ballots out of mailboxes and fraudulently voting in mass?

No keep your system...I like mine...

Hello fellow Oregonian. I love our vote by mail. I've heard from so many out-of-staters that they'd love to have more time to vote. Going to a polling place depends on who's available to get there during the time one is allowed to vote. Many people don't vote simply because they can't leave work or have no transportation, etc.

I haven't heard of any fraud in our state either, have you?

I think the Postal system can be even more corrupt. Half the time I don't get my mail, but I get my neighbors mail. I think there would be some tampering going on there... I wouldn't trust it.

    "Here mom, sign this."

    "What is this, son?"

"It's for your nursing home mom. It says you want apple juice instead of orange juice."

    "Oh, OK."

    "<thank god for senility!>"

    Or

"OK, bring your ballots to our church rec room this saturday, and we'll go over the candidates."

"OK, ballots arrive tomorrow. Get to those mailboxes and steal as many as possible!"

How lazy are people in Oregon anyway? Is it asking too much of them to actually show up to vote? <rolls eyes>

I think you are just asking for even more voting fraud.

Yes, I think so. It sounds like a great idea.

I think they should get rid of caucases. 2,000 people or so shouldn't represent states that have hundreds of thousands of people.
