Why do people keep saying Kentucky is a red state?

When they voted for Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996. Oh and for Jimmy Carter in 1976?

Update:

Lexington and Louisville are not red. They each have a democratic representative in Congress.

Clinton and Carter were from around that area, so they related to the voters down there.

I know Kentucky borders Illinois, but it's not part of the same "region" of the U.S...

Kentucky is pretty much a conservative state although that's changing. They voted in a democratic gov,and all he's done is go against Ky voters and try legalize gambling.

because it has been red for a long, long time now.

come november, it'll be red again.

so hillary win in that state means absolutely nothing.

obama just got closer to being the nominee. all he needs is 11 more delegates to claim the majority of all the pledged delegates needed.

he earned 14 in kentucky, even though hillary "won big."

she won big again and still lost. so sad. so very sad.

because since 1968 to present they've voted a republican in 7 times compared to three terms of democrats

    obama/clinton '08

KY is a red state which means they vote predominantly red (republican) not that they have dems in the gov.

That mean KY will go Republican...according to the electoral map, Florida, WV, OH and AK will give Hillary the White House. Obama will not carry those states.

Unless hillary would get the node then it'll be red in Nov. I think McCain would take the state no matter who gets the nomination
