Hungry in the middle of the night?

Ok......so, I have horrible morning sickness 24/7. I was only having it at night, and then it went to all night and all day. I couldnt even take a shower without becoming nauseated. I am still having problems with the nausea......but some of the vomitting has subsided. Not all of it, but I can eat at certain times now. So, here is my question. I am waking up in the middle of the night starving to death......seems to be one of the only times I can keep food down right now. Is it bad for me to be eating in the middle of the night? I know this causes more severe weight gain...... So, I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this. I would appreciate any answers. Also, I have a lot of problems eating early during the day. I find that I am never hungry before 1 or 2 pm....but then when I do eat it just makes me violently ill. What should I do?? Anyone else pregnant experience this?? I am due 1-02-09 with my fourth child!!

Update:

I have heard that too, and it somewhat scares me. My first pregnancy was a multiple, but I have vanishing twin syndrome. I also miscarried a set of twins at 15 weeks 5 days about 4 years ago. So, I know that multiples is quite possible for me. Not something I was thinking about though when my bf and I decided to have a baby! I have a couple of family members who didnt even know I was pregnant yet tell me they have been having dreams that they see me with a set of twin babies!! Good luck to you! And thanks to all those answering!!

I'm the same way! I'm expecting my 3rd child. My first 2 pregnancies were a breeze compared to this one. I am due 12/25/08.

I too, wake up to a starving growling belly at night. I don't worry about if it's healthy or not, I just eat!! Also, I don't eat in the morning either. It's good to hear there is someone else like me out there!!

All in all, there's nothing wrong with us, or the babies. I have talked to my doctor is simply says "ever pregnancy is different and effects you in different ways." Wasn't much of a help but put my worries aside.

I haven't had a good day in over 2 months. I've become about useless around the house. I'm hoping that this nausea and everything goes away soon so I can get back to my normal life, and I hope for the same for you!!

Another thing, I have heard that severe pregnancy symptoms such as your's and mine can mean that you are carrying multiples! Maybe... :)

Well by reading the other answers, there are a few of us out there feeling the exact same way! I am 8 months pregnant with my 4th child and have been sick the ENTIRE pregnancy! I've had morning, afternoon, night, allday sickness...lol...One thing that helps sometimes is "Emotrol" is a sweet tasting syrup and does wonders for nausea. I have taken it with all my pregnancies. You can find it at just about any drug store or pharmacy.

Anyway...to your question... I wake up at night starving too and I eat! I figure , doesn't matter what time of day or night it is... there are soooo few times I feel like eating that whenever the feeling comes take advantage and eat!

Good Luck..and by the way, love your name...it's my oldest daughters name!

I'm not sure if it's 'ok', but I also wake up just absolutely starving. I never need much to keep me full and now I feel like I can't ever get enough food. The nausia prevents me from eating as much as I'd like, which I'm pretty sure is causing the starvation in the middle of the night. I'd say keep crackers or something of that nature close to the bed perhaps to tie you over until you wake up for real food. Eating a tiny snack might also make you hungry in the morning, so you might be able to get onto a 'normal' eating schedule.

i was fortunate enough to escape the vomiting, although lately i feel like it might just happen. i'm due 11-17-08 so i'm already in my second trimester, but i still get a few sick feelings here and there. anyway as long as you have something light at night like cheerios or a bland food that isn't too heavy, you should be alright. considering you probably don't eat as much during the day, i don't think weight gain will be an issue. i also wake up hungry in the middle of the night, though so i just have whatever i feel i can stomach lol.

I too got hungry in the middle of the night... I say, since your still suffering from morning sickness you should take in whatever calories you can get and keep down... BUT you should always make them count... In the middle of the night I would have a small bowl of cold cereal- (I always thought cold foods helped mekeep things down when I was preggo) Or have an orange or banana. (I couldn't have either of those tho- the texture of the banana killed me and the orange was too citrus-y) BUT maybe you can enjoy them! Now if your having a hard time just drinking water keep a pitcher of Crystal light in the frigde.. I love the stuff. Fruit punch NO SUGAR and only 5 cal. Good luck HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON! congrats on the kiddo!

Oh boy the nausea and vomiting were so bad for me the second pregnancy that at 2 1/2 month i had to quit work !! Talk to your doctor i was prescribed med for the nausea and vomiting and also if you feel hungry and are actually able to keep it down then its good ! also try to make sure to drink plenty of water !! But talk to your OB about it for sure so they can help you have a more comfortable and enjoyable pregnancy !

Your tummy doesn't know whether it is already morning or still midnight. Better have a minimal midnight snack, anyway that is for your baby...
