What do you think about Obama'a stance on the american flag and the national anthem?
I received the following in an email:
Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, during rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag as a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'
hey, Mo...i'm not spouting, just asking a question. isn't that what this whole website is about? i didn't say that it was true. i was just curious about it.

I think too many people hide behind the flag. It's easy to wear a flag lapel pin or stick a magnetic yellow ribbon on your gas guzzling SUV. That's not patriotism in my opinion. Loving your country enough to ask questions and trying to make this a better country is true patriotism, not blind allegiance.

I think his stance on flag pins and unattributed sources about the national anthem are nonsensical and irrelevant.
McCain is running as a third Bush term. That is important and relevant.
Under Bush we have a needless war, preposterous increases in the national debt (didn't he run as a fiscal conservative) and the red herring of nut case social issues.
Bush/McCain are borrow and spend wastrels. For the good of the country, they need to be defeated in November.

It wouldn't bother me much if it were true. It certainly doesn't bother me since I know these claims are false.

This is just more trivia that is being used to because republicans can't mount any substantive criticisms of Obama. It just demonstrates how WEAK the republican hand is in the this election cycle. Do you hear that rumbling sound? That's a landside approaching. Republicans better run for cover.
