I use them all - different products for different stains. However, if I had to suggest one stain remover that removes the hardest stains, I'd choose a spray can of K2R (not available everywhere, but I've called their toll-free number and it is around.) Fels Naptha soap is a good old-fashioned remover, Whisk gel gets thumbs up and then I switch between Shout and Spray and Wash. Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, creme of tartar - there are so many possibilities. My best advice is to do trial and error with whatever product(s) you decide to purchase, and a web search on the really tough ones.

My favorite is Spray N'Wash dual power. Its two sides that when you squese the side it mixes the two formulas and creates a foam. Sit for 5 mins and stains are gone.
I've used on grease on cotton as well as baby spit up on cotton.

In the UK, we have one called 'Vanish'. It's truly amazing and removes even very stubborn stains..
