why is Rent A Center a rip off?

I work for RAC, have for over 11 years. I understand that most people think it is a rip off but only because you dont give us the chance to explain what your getting for your money. Most of you out there that are complaining have probably done bussiness with us and had a bad experience. I hear it all the time. Once you walk into a store that is run properly and have an employee that is knowledgable about not only the product but also the program I bet you may feel differently. You may still not do business with us but you will at least not have the anger tword us that you did. As far as the paying two to three times more than you would at another store, your wrong. And saving by buying on a credit card? Do the math again because your wrong there too. If you have cash in hand and anyplace is selling anything we carry for less, let us know because money does talk. I guarentee if you walk into My RAC with $1000 you could walk out with a 42 inch plasma brand new and paid in full.

RAC IS a rip off for poor ignorant people. PERIOD. its stupid to pay those kinds of prices when you can save your money and get the same thing many times cheaper with cash money. But, i believe in freedom and i don't think RAC should be outlawed. "Stupid" shouldn't be illegal.

The rental outfits provide a way to either get temporary furnishings - if you are in twon for a short time, for example, or having guests for an extended time - or obtain furnishings at a relatively low up-front price - and a staggering ultimate cost. These companies are really in the finance business. They make their money by providing you that television at a price between 2 and 4 times what you would pay for it retail. Even if you put it on a cedit card at high interest or financed the TV purchase, you'd pay less over time. If your credit will hold up to financing the purchase of your new TV, then do it through a competitive store rather than the rental company.

If anybody intends to rent-to-own then the markup price is like 300% over anything that can be found at Costco or Walmart. Your selling tactics prey on the poor who have bad credit and have no other option. You are just as bad as the money stores with their cash advance schemes.

A neighbors friend paid $10 a week, plus interest, for 64 months for a sofa that could have been bought at a discount furniture store for $250. So he basically paid over $700
