what's animation paper like?

so i was watching a demonstration put on by a Disney animator about different framerates and such.

anyway, i was wondering, what's the paper like? it's transparent enough, but doesn't seem as flimsy as regular tracing paper. i'm curious.

Animation paper is typically thick enough to endure a fairly good amount of erasing and drawing, but light enough that a number of pages can be seen through on a light box. It's actually quite close in thickness to the regular printer/copy paper that you buy for your printer at home. In fact, many independent animators and animation students use regular copy paper to do their animation on since pre-punched 12 field or 16 field animation paper is far too expensive to continually use.
