How can we Identify which type of Malware(s) infected our Computer?

It is common that even we have Anti Virus software installed to our computer, chances are these malwares still infects our computers. Now how can we identify/differentiate which type of malware infected/resides in our PC? Is it a Virus?, a Trojan?, Worm? Spyware/Adware? which is which?

You don't want any one them, I promise you.

No one program can get rid of all of them.

Use Spybot to get rid of the Trojan type: this program also automatically blocks known evil sites these come from

Ad-Aware specialises in the ones that dump advertising on you

These two get rid of general viruses, Avast also has separate modules for real-tme monitoring of internet, P2P(Limewire) or email

:You can only have ONE antivirus in memory at any one time so try them and see which uses less memory or traps more bugs. But you can use several in scanning mode (good to do weekly) except some of the paid ones will not work with anything else on the machine.

File sharing sites (both the Limewire type and the MySpace type), porn sites and illegal crack sites are the worst for catching viruses from, but they could come from anywhere.

Nobody wants any of them installed on the pc and running... Personally I use the NOD32 anti virus system. So far (more than 1 year), I have neither virus infections nor malware ones. Of course I never use my computer for web gambling or sex sites generally sites witch are full of ads.

Bottom line, why should you be informed which type has infected your pc? None is welcome.

A virus is self replicating and will slow down the computer and prevent access to some sites.A Trojan will gather personal details eg, e-mail address and ou will be inundated with e0mails offering many types of free articles, lottery wins etc. A backdoor Trojan will always go for specific personal information eg, bank information, home address which can be gained via the IP address, credit card numbers.

Probably because of the way your computer starts to act. Different types of Malware do different things to your computer. If you're not sure what they do, look them up at http://wikipedia.org/
