Do I need to keep my dial-up to hook up broadband?
I have signed up for broadband. The only problem is it doesn't start until the 30th and my dial-up renews on the 27th. Can I cancel my dial-up? Or do I need it to hook up my broadband? It's all greek to me!
The broadband is through my phone company, over the phone line.

Cancel your dialup. It's not needed to hook up broadband. You'll be without internet access for two or three days, but that's the only thing that will happen.

Hello!
Well it depends on what type of broadband service you are getting. If you are getting cable broadband then no you don't need your dial up. If on the other hand you are getting DSL, then you may need to keep it.
Cable broadband works through your cable line just like your tv. DSL works through your phone line. Now if you are getting DSL service it may or may not run through your existing phone service.
Your best bet to be safe would be to contact the company who is going to be supplying your broadband service and ask them to be sure.
Hope this answered your question.
Cheers!

Cancel it. You can live 3 days without the internet. One you get High Speed internet you will forget the 3 days that just passed. Try to tell your new service provider to hurry up and that you are doing them a favor.
