I am leaving for Florida next month and am very concerned about employment opportunities....?

I bought a manufactured home last year in Florida and tried to stick it out here in Connecticut but I have decided to move down to Florida.I am paying for my electricity and land rent and the other bills I will have are cable and gas.Along with my car payment and car insurance and cell phone and of course groceries I know I will not make what I have made here.So of course I know I will have to budget more than I have here. Now for the question...Will I have a hard time finding employment??I have worked in a school system for 26 yrs. but cannot afford to go 3 months without money coming in.I am willing to work 2 jobs if neccesary but have heard stories about some taking 6 months to find employment.Any suggestions would very much be appreciated. Thanks!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but school system jobs are just not out there right now...orange county actually is going through layoffs in their schools right now. So, beyond cafeteria ladies - not much is out there in that venue. BUT that doesn't mean their aren't jobs. There is always retail and tourist places like the theme parks hiring. Go to careerbuilder website and put in Orlando, FL and look at what is being advertised currently and you will get a good idea of what may be out there for you.

BEST wishes!!! Economy is tough everywhere right now. I would create the best resume you can and go ahead and start submitting it now before you get to FL to possible companies so when you get here you can interview and/or follow up on resumes...not be starting brand new.

I have been unemployed for about a year....I have only found temp for for about 2 months....NO JOBS here. I live in St Pete and my county is #4 in unemployment and job loss in the country......If you are old here your job search will be 10 times as hard. They don't hire people over 40!!! My friend who was 22, just out of college got job teaching special ed for 26K.....Bad pay here, high cost of living. Stay away from the Tampa area. Perhaps Jacksonville or Pensacola area....I can't even pay my rent this month so if I can afford gas I will leave everything behind and go back to the Midwest!.

How old are you? If you're over 10 years old you should not have this separation anxiety. It's just for 3 days!

Get on Monster.com People here are struggling and there are no free handouts bro... I would try to get a job were you are and then transfer...
