If Bush got us some of that oil from Iraq, would it help to bring gas prices down?

Well, of course! If we just loaded it on boats and sent them to our refineries, it would cost a lot less. Problem is, we follow international law and the Russian and French oil companies that prospect and pump nearly all the oil there would be quite upset. As it is, since Iraq under Hussein was a Soviet ally until they imploded, ARAMCO and other US interests could not penetrate the market. That is why we get our oil from (in order): the USA, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, various northwest African countries, and the southern Gulf states (Saudi Arabia, mainly but also Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain). If the USA would return to the old European methods and nationalize Iraqi oil, the whole global system we inherited from Great Britain and greatly expanded would collapse and along with it, the US economy and those of every western/Asian nation. It is just something that cannot and will not happen. The ONLY way prices can be lowered is if both the federal and state governments greatly reduce gasoline taxes but the environmentalists will never allow that to happen because high gas prices mean less gas usage. If poor people starve, what do they care?

The war in Iraq was only to get defense and oil & gas contracts for companies in which Bush, Cheney have interests..

I agree. You would think that since the US is helping out Iraq, they wouldn't screw us on oil prices!! I say leave 'em to fight on their own. We shouldn't help them if they aren't helping us!

Bush isn't in Washington to help us .. He's only there to help out his rich buddies.
