6-(-3)= 9 because two negatives equal a positive

6+ (-3)= 3 because you can think of it as 6-3.

so the answer would be 6-(-3) is greater than 6+(-3)

+6 - (-3) is greater because two negatives make a positive.

+6 - (-3) means the same thing as +6 + 3 = 9

+6 + (-3) means the same thing as +6 - 3 = 6

Well, think about it like this, you are on a number line. When you are doing a subtraction problem you are facing the negative numbers and when you are doing an addition problem you are looking at the positive numbers. When you are doing something to a negative number you move backwards. you move forewards for a positive number.

So if you start at 6 and subtract so you face toward 0, but then for NEGATIVE 3 you walk backwards 3 spaces. So you are now at 9.

If you start at 6 and face toward 10 and you walk backwards 3 for NEGATIVE 3, you are at 3.

So 6-(-3) is bigger.

sometimes visuals like that are dumb, but they help more than mathematics.

Pick something (or a class of things) and describe it in detail. Tell what makes that object different from anything else. Help the reader to experience your subject through your words! Lots and lots of adjectives!
