What do you do keep your dog from digging in your flower beds??

I set 16 mouse traps around and so far its worked..but in the older flower beds she dug yesterday (where there aren't any mouse traps). I about killed her...well I wanted to anyways. Some times I swear she can hear rodents scurrying in the soil because she will stare at the dirt and tilt her head like dogs do when they are listening.

Anyways, got any other ideas?

Pepper! Pour some pepper into the areas she's digging. Worked like a charm on my puppy.

That's exactly what's she's hearing. Now that she knows there's prey down there, her instinct is to get it. Your scolding only confuses her. Her instinct and breeding say get the prey, her Mom says know.......what's a dog to do???? Dogs and flowers do not go together. They need to be separated by fences.......and with some dogs of mine, electric fences.

You could get an underground electric fence and put it around your garden.........cheaper than doing your yard perimeter. But, alas, still $$$

Good luck, how good are you at gopher/mole/vole/mouse catching??

Put up a small wire fence around your flower beds. Or just put something in there she doesn't like. My dogs hate anything that sprays especially bathroom freshener. whenever you see your do so much as looking at the flower bed, spray her. It works every time.

There is a Liquid fence on the market...safe for plants but keep rabbits, deer etc away.
