Is Nikon coming out with a new D-SLR model to replace the D80?

I was recently going to purchase the Nikon D80 from ebay from a store called "pyxis camera," and one day noticed that they stopped selling all but three D80's. I also knew that the model is two years old, and wondered if Nikon would come out with a new model.

Can someone please tell me if there will be a new model soon, and if it will be worth the wait?

Thanks!!!

Nothing has been announced to this day.

If there is a replacement in the works, Nikon is keeping it quiet for the moment. There are rumors, but they are nothing more than rumors, that there is something coming, but again, nothing specific...

D80 is a 2 year old model, and yet, it is still pretty capable as far as it's competition is concerned. So I am not surprized Nikon isn't rushing the announcement. I'm sure they are working on something, but is it coming out tomorrow or next year - nobody knows.

P.S. Googled around a bit and found this article, pretty funny (but of course not true - for those who may not notice the irony):
