    not sure of the author but in the context of contrariness yes that would be correct if you can gather every bit of information about what something is not then by proxy you should with application of deductive reasoning and a little logic tell what something is.sounds almost like something Aristotle would say.in any case that is just a guess and therefore being an assumption most likely wrong

    P.S: the process of contrariness can take a lifetime and/or lifetimes to answer one single question
