car insurance dropped me???
I am 23 years old, female, and I have had the same insurance policy since I turned 16. I have not had any at fault accidents, I was the victim of a hit and run like 4 years ago and thats it. And as for as tickets go, I had only one about 3 to 3 1/2 years ago and is was a non-moving violation (tint). I have never been late on a payment. And yet my insurance company dropped me? They really didn't give me a reason, the letter just said " your policy expires 7 21 08 and we reget to inform you that we will not be able to renew your policy, sorry for the inconvinence. etc etc. Why the hell do you think they dropped me. anybody out there work for a insurance agency understand what happened here. Did I do something to make them drop me or was I just a lucky pick out of the hat?

There could be a few reasons which should be specifically outlined in the nonrenewal notice:
Your company is no longer writing in your State.
Your agent no longer represents the company.
Your company is in a run-off (Kemper Insurance is in a run-off) which means they are essentially bankrupt & are nonrenewing all of their policies as they come up & are not writing any more.
Or, you may be in a state (like NJ) that allows an insurance company to nonrenew 2% (or some other %) of their book of business every year for NO reason. It is called the 2% rule.
So, you could very well have not done anything wrong. Contact your agent & see if they can write another policy for you.

An insurance company can non-renew your policy for any reason. I would first call my agent and ask for an explanation. There could be some wrong information on your MVR or CLUE report. If they can't give you an explanation, then find you a new agent and company. Check with your local independent agents as they usually represent several different companies and can shop your rate. Don't wait until the last days as the further out you get your quote, the better the rate will be by not waiting until the last day or two.
Also, make sure the coverages are compatible. Many agents will try to slip some low (state minimum) coverages on you and tell you that they got you a great rate. You can also check out the company you get a quote from on www.ambest.com to see their financial stability rating. Go with one that carries at least an A rating. Good Luck.

Marketing decision on the insurance companies part. You may never know the reason, but it really doesn't matter. Now it's time to find a new policy and perhaps even save some money.
Step one: Don't wait until your policy expires, because then you will have to answer "Are you presently insured?" "No" which will make you high risk automatically.
So, now, find an independent agent that is local to you. Give him what coverage you need, see if he has any suggestions as to policy limits, and give him your information. Tell him you need to be covered as of 7/21/08. He will use your information and search his data base to find the best deal for you. Don't be surprised if you save some money.
And the added side benefit is having a local agent to talk to if needed.

Wow, that is weird, especially since you do not have any recent infractions and have been with them so long.
I don't work for insurance but I have had the same insurance company for 20 years and sometimes they have raised our payments just out of the blue.
I found out, and I did not know this before that insurance companies look at your credit score and sometimes base some your payment on that,
Do you have any credit problems or a real low credit score recently? Maybe when your insurance was up for renewal they looked at that? I am just guessing, although it doesn't make sense when you have not been late on a payment. I think I would call and ask for a reason.

Back in the 90s I had an AWESOMELY LOW insurance premium from a small-azz company ... it ended, very similarly to yours, because the company just couldn't afford to keep up with claims or whatever (they went out of business, or got out of the insurance game, or what-have-you).
I felt lucky to have paid such a low rate for a few years, and simply got a new company and had to pay more. In hindsight, it's probably lucky that I DIDN'T get in an accident - they might not have been able to pay!

It's not necessarily your fault. It's possible that they are no longer writing policies in your location, or are a less than A- rated company lowering their customer base. The best thing to do is call them for clarification.

That's odd... I think you should call them and ask them why they dont want your business. There are plently of insurance companies out there that will gladly take your money. Maybe even for less money.
Were you on your parents policy or your own policy?

with a bit of luck you had one greater assurance called Uninsured Motorist assurance and if so you will regularly be not at fault. they might desire to not drop you. with a bit of luck you have confirmation of this interior the subsequent week and would deliver the assurance agent a Valentine Day card with a thank you word.

Unless it's a major company, I would say they are downsizing and can't afford to keep as many customers as they have. If you think it's a mistake, you may want to call them and ask why. You never know, it could be a clerical mistake.
